No. Matthews#1 Leaf. And you know this........maaaaaaaaan! - OurSaviour_34
I first buy a ticket to see Marner play.
Then Tavares.
Probably then Matthews.
Matthews' an elite shooter. But I don't think anymore he's as close to McDavid as initially thought.
I'd trade Matthews for Barkov. |

Wrong. Pasta benefits from playing with 2 studs and a great team.
Matthews soon to be #2 player in the world only behind McDavid. By end of 2021 season. My call. He will also win the rocket trophy in the 2021 season.

considering 1 or 2 of these 7 players to sign are top4 dmen.... yeah, not looking good.
I never said the sky was falling. but to say all is fine and that the vast majority of other teams have a the same problem is idiotic.
Leafs, if they want to be considered as a legit contender badly need to improve their dcore, and that won't be possible by signing some players for league minimum.
something's gotta give. - fidopro

let me know which teams are likely to make room for Johnsson and Kerfoot, and what you think is a decent return for these players..
surely it's not impossible, but if you get a 2nd back for both of them, maybe it is some indication of bad cap/pick management by Leafs (e.g. could have kept Marleau and traded Johnsson last year - and kept the 1st rounder in that way). - MaximusAurelius
You are not keeping a 40 year-old 4th liner for 6.25. That contract was ludicrous by Lou.
Are you trying to say Kerfoot and John Jonsson can't be moved? Because that's pretty stupid. The Leafs have moved such terrible contracts this won't be an issue. |

I love the irony of hearing non-stop how overpaid our 22 and 23 year-old stars are and then the suggestion is keep a 4th liner for a 6.25 cap hit. Jesus.
It's like people think the cap doesn't count for playofs not in the top 6.
Let me guess, I am going to see photos of Marleau hanging out with Marner and Matthews and that shows amazing leadership LOL. The guy was a plug in the playoffs and cost us dearly. The brain dead coach kept playing him |

that's fine.
i'm glad everyone can have their own preferences and favorite players.
curious - who were some of your favorite players in the past?
(some of mine Datsyuk, Fedorov, Jagr, Hasek, Selanne, Iginla, Bure, Mogilny) |

you're not following the argument apparently.
it's bad cap/pick management if you trade away marleau and a first (and brown, zaitsev to make additional cap room) in order to keep johnsson and kerfoot on your team - and then trade these same players away the next season for a low return. |

We are going to be trading 1st rounders yearly. Get use to it. Our drafting looks fantastic considering.
That cap hit had to absolutely go. I'm sure a major concern with Dubas was so much Marleau was playing in addition to the insane cap hit.
Marleau should have been a healthy scratch with that performance but instead got time that should have went to better and younger players in the playoffs.
But Nylander!...
But he gets a free pass others don't because he's an old guy who's supposedly classy... |

Are you (frank)ing insane? He was horrific. He didn't score and was constantly beaten to the pucks and wasn't even good defensively.
If that's playing "Well" then I'm sure you think Nylander was terrific...
Seeing Babcock suddebly leave the press conference after game 7 when he was asked why the hell Marleau was playing that much says it all
0 goals, 2 assists in 7 games and he played really well. You would never say that about one of the younger pllayers with that performance.
Let me guess, he brought "Leadership" in that playoff series? |

Matthews (-3) was awful game 7. Anderssen pooped the bed again in a game 7.
Gardiner was awful. Nylander meh (and when on the ice trailing, gave up an easy puck to Bruins to score the4th).
Marleau was just playing better than MAtthews and Nylander that game. |

The ENTIRE series Marleau was terrible. matthew sled both teams in goal scoring in that series.
Bullpoop double-standard. He's a 40 year-old 4th liner with a 6.25 cap hit. You do realize that's worse than any other LeaF CONTRACT, RIGHT? |

Which twit said trade Matthew's for Barkov?
LOL
Barkov, 479 games
Matthew's, 282 games
200 less games, younger, yet has more goals. But sure, make the trade. (158 Matthew's, 155 Barkov)
