It's just funny as a Leaf fan hearing for a year Nylander is millions overpaid and I am supposed to wait to pass judgement on that terrible Hayes contract.

Leafs were very smart to move on from JVR and not even offer him a deal.

He just got 31 goals, 59 points in 70 games and was at an 82 point pace once Keefe took over. We may be looking at a 80+ point forward ina full season now

Eh I think Tucker was better than Hayes ever has been. Hayes has yet to hit 50 points(Tucker hit 61 one year). I do agree though that Clifford is a plug. There's a ceratin amount of fans that will love anyone without teeth that hits.

Hayes isn't bad I just think those contracts are so much worse than the female doging we hear about Matthews and Marner. You gotta watch giving a guy like that 7.15 until he's 35. Don't overpay supporting talent. That's also why they walkede from JVR. He scored goals infront of the net on the PP. He litterally did nothing else. He was a 3rd line 5 on 5 player was so slow and so bad defensively.

28 is actually old for a player who plays that style. By 30 no doubt he'll be past his prime. That's another issue with his deal. Tucker had a nice season at 30, but the slip began after that.

Based on the reactions to every Leaf deal I think Dubas would be a laughingstock for giving Hayes that deal.

BTW, Hayes has been complete poop in the playoffs. But I get the feeling people think a player like him would come up huge in the playoffs.

Tucker isn't a legend for Leafs fan. Fan fave in his time would be fair.

I get why fans here wanted Lou to stay. They actually think it is a good idea to have Pageau, Komorov Martin, Clutterbuck ETC on the team. Cap hit with those guys is irrelevant I guess. Nylander makes 6.9!!!
