I think it is Benning's fault for picking up rookies that get bonus money. The good old days guys like Gaunce and Shinkuruk never cost us a god damn penny. - VANTEL
Fawking Benning - he goes and signs EP, Quinn and Boeser to ELCs, knowing full well they're going to hit all their bonuses and end up costing a boat load more money, what an idiot.

I guess I don’t really understand the logic behind moving a 21 goal scorer for a 24 goal scorer which will cost 2 million more dollars a year? Toffoli’s a better goal scorer than Pearson but he’s not 2+ million dollars a year better imo. He’s five years removed from his one and only 30 goal season, he had 13 goals last year. Most of the moves suggested are zero-sum moves, there’s actually very little benefit to them.
Boeser is a much better player than Toffoli but he did have a bad (for him) goal scoring year last year, Pearson and Toffoli are interchangeable but TT will cost you a lot more.
What Benning needs to be able to do is add without taking away unless his goal is to just ice the same type of mediocre team with different players? - Pacificgem

Jake Virtanen is like the Charlie Harper of the Canucks. No virus could possibly ever live inside him . The gin and penicillin would kill any virus. |

They need all 3 in the short term, Pearson hopefully can be replaced the following year by podz or Hogz. Team finally had a legit top 6 need to keep it that way as this team won't have a good d.

Last count I heard was 17 teams are in a pinch. The minions will surely blame JB. - Nighthawk
And 17 teams have a GM that are at fault. I think we can dance around it though. |

Absolutely, when the organization is deep enough to force change it’s not only a great thing it brings back assets when you replace from within. |

As opposed to forced change due to unmovable contracts.
I understand your deep state narrative. |

Having to trade your best players only to replace them with similar more expensive players is asinine. He’s backed himself into a corner with too many bad contracts on the books, patience is his greatest asset right now, wait it out and stop tripping over your own feet. |

Surprisingly enough Podz and Hogz will both be available next year. Their contract would be done in May and if we do happen to start in Jan then the season will be still running.

If they’re good enough to push guys like Pearson or Virtanen out the door that’s best case scenario, the Canucks under Benning have been a really good drafting team, hopefully that continues. |

Sorry man that's your perspective, he is doing just fine, and will continue to do so.
You don't like some of his acquisitions while others do, doesn't make your perspective correct any more than my perspective correct.
Benning bashing is certainly tiresome though, but carry on carrying on.
Hextall sucks poop, always has always will...no wonder the dumbass can't hold a gm position longer than a coffee break. |

It’s a temporary setback, the bad contracts, in a couple years they’ll be gone and the core kids will still be really young. As I said, patience is needed right now. Wait it out.
Oh, regarding Hextall, he’s as arrogant as Benning is dumb, but he was a decent GM, he’ll get another shot when he’s ready. |

One has instant chemistry with your superstar player and his stellar sidekick and the other does not. Next question? |

They produce at a very similar level over an 82 game schedule, there’s really no benefit that makes the team that much better imo. |

But he drafted Boeser, Pettersson & Hughes.
Other GM's have signed bad contracts or made bad trades. |

And he needs to have good linemates. I still think Pearson will be getting moved at some point.

Nice to read things like this🙌👍
Sadio Mane, The Liverpool Star from Senegal (earning approximately 10.2 million dollars annually),has given the world a lesson in modesty after some fans spotted him carrying a cracked Iphone. His response is legendary:
"Why would I want ten Ferraris, 20 diamond watches and two jet planes? What would that do for the world? I starved, I worked in the fields, I played barefoot, and I didn't go to school. Now I can help people. I prefer to build schools and give poor people food or clothing. I have built schools [and] a stadium; we provide clothes, shoes, and food for people in extreme poverty. In addition, I give 70 euros per month to all people from a very poor Senegalese region in order to contribute to their family economy. I do not need to display luxury cars, luxury homes, trips, and even planes. I prefer that my people receive a little of what life has given me," Mane said. |

3rd wheel on a line should be cheaper.
Miller Petey awesome 1-2 punch so Toffoli needs to come in at a good price although he is pretty good but still it has to be cap friendly. Hoping 4/5m
Bo Boeser make up the old 1st line but a good 2nd line that’ll get less attention behind the 1st line. Pearson now but Hoagie a better price if he can slot in next year.
Gaudette JV not bad for a 3rd line but need a settling influence so as not to be a defensive liability so they can get TOI for depth scoring. Pretty good potential if Ferland is healthy & can stay that way.
4th line is overpriced but time will help fix that. 1-2yrs is long to wait unless JB can off load contracts. Good place for a Lind to break in when ready. Mac looks to be a lock.
D well that’s what bugs us all the most. |

Anyone ok with letting Marky walk?
Run with Demko & sign a decent back up to save some cap. Too risky or a step backwards or just say eff it & do it? |
