The expansion draft is/was scheduled for June 2021. The date might change but it'll be after the conclusion of whatever the next NHL season is (would've been 2020-21, may still be those years technically). Sorokin will get a season, of some sort, in before they have to make any decisions.

If Sorokin is all that Chiefs say he’s going to be Then I could see Lou leaving Varly exposed and maybe even have a deal in place for Seattle to take him.

True, pretty much goes for all of us.

I still don’t know how I feel about them playing this season.

Just read expansion draft rules. 1st and 2nd year NHL players are exempt. Sorokin doesn't need to be protected.

I wish I had found the rules details sooner.
