The Habs would love to get rid of the Price contract. The problem is at what cost. The other issue being who is there to replace him? - FLAMESTR
Ideal scenario: Habs get Lafreniere. Lose Price to Seattle. Rebuild truly begins. Lots of confidence in Primeau at this point that he will become at least a starter. Keep or trade Weber, 7-8Mil really isn't awful for what he still brings. He will retire or go to Robidas Island before 42 anyways, so it's a non-issue. |

Good point on the talent that will be available. - Balboa
There was lots of "up and coming" talent available to the Golden Knights as well. They took Fleury (who many at the time were starting to write off). Look how that went. |

Vegas went to the goalie well in Pitt, why shouldn’t Seattle?
Either M. Murray and T. Jerry will be available... and it might just be Murray.
Sabres should trade a 2nd pick for one of them, much better for Pitt than getting nothing. - SuperCat
I would predict a Matt Murray trade. Pit could use some young talent on entry level deals that could play on the 3rd line or 2nd pairing defense. Rutherford is the most aggressive GM in the league and he has a win now attitude...who wouldn't with that roster. Pit is arguably the most talented roster in the league when they are healthy. |

Every team that signs players to $10 mil plus contracts will regret this move in this new NHL. The cap will go down, escrow will go up and teams at the cap will be in trouble. Price's contract will have to be unloaded and the Habs will have to eat $3 to $4 mil per. The longer C-19 is a threat the worse the big deals will be on teams. |

Agreed. Teams can’t afford to pay multiple guys 10M plus. It’s going to be the downfall for a few teams around the league. Your team can only contain so many sub million dollar fillers and expect to be a legitimate threat for the Cup. Entry level deals will be how winners are built moving forward. No way around it. Draft well |

Yeah that contract is a tire fire.
Carey Price will retire without a cup. - BINGO!
He can't be that bad if Aho was eager to play in front of him. He must love having no goalie

Yeah, I think that is the most likely scenario. The Pens do not have the cap space to pay Murray much more than what he is currently making and he will be an RFA at the end of this season (however it ends - so will Jarry for that matter). He could make a case for wanting more and I could see another team making an offer sheet more than what the Pens could afford.
Considering that he has had two consecutive seasons with slow starts where he literally took months to get into NHL form, resulting in many losses and this past season even being a contract year, I do not think he has earned more than what he is currently making. I am sure at least one GM will think of the two Stanley Cup wins and think otherwise (forgetting that he did not play full regular seasons before either of these).
The Pens will likely pull up DeSmith from the minors and perhaps do a 1A and 1B between him and Jarry, unless one proves much better than the other. And yes, they could use some young NHL-level talent coming from a trade. |

Why on earth would any team want to take the expensive and overrated goalie off of MTL’s books? He’s not elite anymore and is grossly overpaid, not to mention the extensive injury history. |

They can simply take Quick for free in the expansion draft. His cap hit is also a lot lower. |

When you use old facts to make a point, while ignoring the new facts. Which is basically the same fact. Because the fact is that Carey Price is always voted best goalie in the league. It's been a fact for about 5 years now. Habs haters bury their heads in the sand when new facts emerge. The fact he threw out was literally this year. Facts are nice. We like facts.
