You need to go back to the beginning. They really did take off the financial chains and went all in bolstering the scouting and development departments. I believe, without looking it up, the scouting dept had some 50 people in it at one point.
They also put Buffalo in the game when it came to going after the best FA's and hockey people on the market.
Harbor Center and the revitalization of downtown plus arena upgrades to give the players everything they might need - Michael Pachla
what have they done to make a better product on the ice
I mean its not like we are eliminated from the playoffs the last week of every season
we are constantly picking in the top 8
year after year

The only thing they should listen to when it comes to the fans is esoteric things surrounding the fan experience. Cup holders above the urinals being the preeminent example - Michael Pachla
I 100% agree with this.
I was just trying to prove a point. |

Downtown development is excellent for the city, but does not help the actual team become better.

the cherry on top was hiring a yes man, without even interviewing 1 experienced person to be the new GM |

Can't argue that. Just saying they did some things right early on. They just didn't turn out right, unfortunately |

You're completely clueless if you believe tmgm "tanked" without the peguals approval.

usually when you fail, you surround yourself with the most talented people you can
I just do not see that happening lately
3 rookie gms
a rookie coach
a coach out of the game for many years with only 1 season under his belt
sh!t can rochester staff which was putting up our best ahl seasons in 15 years
throwing 2 way contracts at players you expect to be with your big club
total sh!t show

like when they tanked for dahlin and gave botts the approval
both cases, your on board with the gm to tank, and once you get your prize, can your gm in less then 2 years from when you got that prize |

Through failure.
And that talent is on the cusp of asking out of here. - Powerslave
So, what have the peguals done?
Thru Failure or not, eichel is a Sabre. He is the sabres property for 6 more years. Cusp or not, he is one of the best sabres of all time. On the verge of being the best non goalie in my opinion.
As a season ticket , eichel is very enjoyable to watch |

how many other nhl superstars have missed the playoffs in each of their first 5 seasons
one more stat the pegulas have in their back pocket, one of the few if not only nhl owner of a superstar that they have been unable to even come close to sniffing the playoffs - homiedclown
You are deflecting my answer with another question.
You asked what the pegulas have done?
They brought in eichel.
If the other 2nd overall pick was a star, we would be in much better shape. Instead hes just decent. |

When we hired those GM and coaches they were listed as the number 1 candidates they brought the best in and it still failed .. - gerbe75pts
I believe what the group is ultimately questioning is did the Pegula's play a part in the failure of Murray and Botterill by meddling and demanding certain player moves?
If they are not going to just let a GM do their job, without any interference, then how will any GM with the Sabres ever be successful? |

Yes , you fire the gm that has eichel and dahlin but finishes 25th. Absolutely.
3 years was plenty to turn the team around |

in the 9 plus years of owning the sabres
what have our owners done RIGHT? - homiedclown
Since this has become a psychological rant session to help soothe the tough COVID 19 days and Homie is leading the way and is showing his psychological inadequacies. You can argue that bringing the NHL Combine was a success, building the harbor center arena attached to the arena was a success. Drafting the infallible Skunk was a success, don't you agree, Homie, and holding on to that stud, not trading him, THAT is a success. Having the first female president of any team in NHL history and one who is Asian that is a success, no deep thnking Gr8? |

When did I say the pegulas didn’t agree? I didn’t, but the pegulas didn’t make the trades and dismantle the roster, Murray did, the pegs just went along with it.
Does the Katz family get credit for drafting mcdavid? |

Hosting the combine and world juniors is nice too.
Again, nothing to do with the on ice product, but their peripheral work has been pretty good. |

I don't always buy Boss' tank rhetoric, but this is a fact. Tim Murray deconstructed that team on purpose to lose, and you don't intentionally lose without your owner knowing about it. |

They didn't tank for Dahlin. They hired Phil Housley. As Boss would say, stealth tank, but not a single one of us on this board thought/knew Housley was a bad hire. |
