Ralph Wilson was no real HOFer as an owner, especially through the 70- and 80's but there he is in the HOF - GilPerreault11

ralph is in the hall of fame because of 2 people
jack kemp

what truth?
that we have the worst president of all the nhl teams? - homiedclown
You don't buy tickets or live in Buffalo so are they really your owner? If you did have season tickets or even bought a package but you are a distant b*tcher.

I wonder what the percentage was of fans who wanted him traded because it was very high and if we go back to the archives many. many on here wanted ROR gone. I didn't
- GilPerreault11
I despised him prior to coming here. I don't think I wanted him traded. |

When did I say the pegulas didn’t agree? I didn’t, but the pegulas didn’t make the trades and dismantle the roster, Murray did, the pegs just went along with it.
Does the Katz family get credit for drafting mcdavid? - Sabres1523
If I'm not mistaken, the Katz family did not finish dead last assuring mceichel? They failed at failing and were still assigned the #1 overall pick.
So I'm confused , the pegula's only have player input with ek9 and ror, but didn't for the eichel draft year?
Seems like your being selective.

weak
I travel to see them 2 times a year, plus see games when I go back home each year
again sabres have longest nhl playoff drought of 9 years
next longest streak is the wings at 4 years
only 1 constants thing during this stretch, the owners |

Please don't go to the 'you're not a real fan' thing. It's such a sh1tty basis of an argument.
We all invest in the product, whether it be our time, money or both. Fans deserve to be rewarded for their investment. That reward should be that the owner is open minded and doing everything within their power to win. Or lose for Jack Eichel. To eventually win. |

actually he only had 151 games to turn it around, because your tanking for dahlin - homiedclown
You're playing both sides of the court.
You - sabres suck, pagulas suck, 9 years ect.
Now they aren't happy with 25th place and they replace the gm
You- 151 isnt enough time to turn it around.
Botts clearly needed to be fired. Probably would have criticized the pegulas more if they kept him?

Look, I'm a reasonable person. I'm able to see both sides of a situation fairly often, even if I disagree with one of the sides. Or both.
But you are defending the Pegulas much more than they deserve. I've met them too, on a few occasions. They are nice people, and they are dedicated to winning. That is a fact. They are also bullheaded, stubborn and naive. That is also a fact. They've done some wonderful things for this city. They've brought in revenue and outfitted both teams with prize player facilities.
They lucked into McDermott and Beane. This is a fact.
They have not lucked into a similar combo for Buffalo. This is a fact.
I have seen no proof of claimed over reaching, but the evidence stacks against them. Is OJ a murderer? He's as guilty as the Pegulas are in meddling, whether that be occasionally positive or mostly negative.
They try consulting with "NHL officials", do their homework (they always do their homework) and their hirings still fail. The people they hired, regardless of them being rookies to the position (not Disco), have been qualified and deserving of their promotions. They flopped. They simply didn't luck into the hires like they did with the Bills.
They injected truck loads of cash into both organizations. The wrong people hired the wrong people hired the wrong people. Not all problems go away by throwing money at it.
The hiring of Kevyn Adams tells me a few things.
1. They've lost trust in the outside hiring process. They shouldn't, but they did.
2. They've known him for nine years, he's exceeded all of his roles. If he laid out an intelligent game plan, they know him enough to trust that he will carry out his plan as laid out.
3. He may be a yes man, but even the Pegulas know that a yes man does not equal a winning franchise. Their dedication to winning, as noted above, will allow him to hopefully make the decisions in the best interest of the team.
4. They know Kevyn Adams is a highly intelligent man. They need to let him fill out the hockey staff as he sees fit, and they should do whatever possible to ensure that he's hiring the best available people. Keep in mind, it's a two way street, and these people also must be willing to fill the roles Adams is asking of them.
All in all, they need to get the (frank) out of the way. Forcing the GM to sign Eichel to a long term contract is in the best interest of the team, and if Botterill wasn't willing to do that, he should have been fired on the spot. Not to mention the rest of his personnel blunders. - TheSabresTaco
Lucked into mcbeane, but chose the wrong hockey management?
Why isnt the Sabres hires unlucky?

I can't really disagree here, but if they're hiring someone from within who they believe deserved the promotion, then that's their right. Just hope they take Eichel seriously. |

I think mcdermott is average, with a lot of upside as he gets more comfortable

There's no opinion measuring stick, but the man took a team to the playoffs with Tyrod Taylor and Zay Jones as your top QB/WR combo.
I'm not saying he's a god, but he's done a damn fine job thus far. Our defense has consistently been top notch.
Always room to improve, but like you said, I think the man has a lot of upside. Off the Sunday afternoon field, I think he's done great things with the organization. The culture in there in phenomenal. |

You run a business right?
You take over the business and keep the current staff, because being an owner of a sports team is different.
(Darcy and lindy)
Then you hire an all time favorite employee, guy was great on the sales floor, but management is difficult and he quits. (La la)
Before he quits, he hires an abrasive dueshe bag, who was good a lower level position, but clearly in over his head. (Tmgm)
So then your sick of pee pee slapping and other low budget language. You hire someone that at the very least is cordial in conversation. A natural progression, assistant gm ,now gm . (Botts)
So your flat out sick of "hockey geniuses" but really like a long time employee . Why not give him a shot. (Kagm)
They have been testing the market even when botts was here.
If nothing else, kagm is a friendly respectable hockey guy

"There's always someone smarter and better than you"
As you're likely right in a literal sense, hiring a 'known' is clearly something important to them this time around, as junior, I think, is trying to say. Amongst other Pegula propaganda I'm not really buying.
He's seen Adams succeed in every role given to him, akin to Jeremiah Crowe. No wonder they both got big promotions. |

I can certainly give them credit for hiring them, just as I can fault them for not finding their Sabres counterparts.
But isn't every hire truly a luck of the draw? When you hire outside people, you truly don't know what you will be getting. You can look at resumes and skill sets, but you don't know how they will translate to your org or business.
Hence why I use the word luck. |
