so why do doctors and nurses wear masks in, say, the operating room? - Michael Pachla
To protect the patient from their germs...which is the point of the recommendation for Mask wearing in public.
Not sure if those studies he referred to were about the efficacy of reducing transmission, or if reducing infections while breathing in. |

Mitts and Tage both are RFA's that earned $925 on ELC; therefore unless the new CBA changed it, they are due a QA at $1.01m. Why anyone would pay those two a red cent more than that is beyond me. Put them on notice. - IonSabres
Foley doesn't think very highly of Mitts in his article. |

My parents have health issues, so I’ve been trying to be really safe for their sake
Sounds like you guys are in a tough spot figuring out what to do
Hopefully they change their minds down there & do school online till your numbers decrease - jdfitz77
How are they in a tough spot figuring out what to do?
As Homie said, most don't wear masks.
Is Florida on any type of lockdown? Arizona?
The Texas governor is "threatening" a lockdown? 😂 That ship is at dock, ready to sail, moron (him, not you). Should have already been under a lockdown.
They're their own worst enemies.
The entire state of NY had 700 new cases yesterday, but people want to bash Cuomo. There are only 7,000 cases in Erie County from the data I just saw. And everywhere I go, 99% of the people are wearing their mask. |

It's very disappointing, especially after the WJ20 tourney a couple of years ago.
That 1st year of college was telling, he needed more time.
I get them having urgency in signing him given they had just list Cal the Goalie, but in retrospect it hurt him. He should have been sent down much, much earlier. |

It's relatively early there in the re-opening, controlled as it may be.
People have and are travelling. The Quaranting Mandate has zero, zip, nada bite to it from my wife's experience being up their for 2 weeks...no registration, no calls, no visits cause they had no clue. Maybe they have changed it, or are enforcing it more aggressively in harder hit areas, but it doesn't take much to restart it...
The early protests didn't help the situation |

For arguments sake, what have The Twins pegged Cirelli's contract to be? - IonSabres
In order of highest probability to least:
42% - 6 years @ $5.8M per
13% - 5 years @ $5.4M per
12% - 4 years @ $5M per
12% - 2 years @ $3.6M per
10% - 3 years @ $4.5M per
6% - 8 years @ $6.8M per
4% - 7 years @ $6M per
2% - 1 year @ $4M per
For comparison sake, the above is VERY similar to what they have projected for Brandon Montour. |

Yeah, but even the numbers show that he just isn't as good as where he was drafted. Unless he steps it up, and he changes something, doesn't sound like he's gonna be a impactful top 6 player. |

I just found out that my mother has an aortic aneurysm. That's not anyone's fault, but if she gets exposed because some d!ckhead can't be bothered to wear a mask for 20 minutes in Wegman's while he runs in for his goddamn ribeye? That's where I have a huge issue. |

Thanks.
Interesting that 1 year is more than 2 years.
2 years as a bridge seems like the place for them to land on a cost basis from a team perspective, unless BrisBois believes he will blow up during that time and cost a whole lot more in the long run. They may not have the option depending on how many others they jettison. |

No one is claiming it’s 100% effective
But it is reasonable to think it helps
And it’s not a big inconvenience
If a surgeon can wear a mask for hours during surgery, then i see no problem having the rest of us do so when we go grocery shopping, out to eat, etc etc etc
Also... i don’t see any “legality” argument there
Unless I’m just misunderstanding you? - jdfitz77
I think it's more perception
again I am fine wearing it and I do

Some of them intentionally do it, some forget once in awhile. I did yesterday when I went into the liquor store for 5 minutes...didn't realize I forgot until I stood in line...my bad for sure, as I wear it 95% of the time in public.
2 points though...
- I watched various shows and a couple were reporting that the latest thoughts are people in close proximity with an infected person for 10 - 15 minutes engaged in conversation are the most likely to be infected as that tends to create more and larger particulates to be spewed out .. far less likely from casualty walking by some one
- it is encumbant on those at higher risks due to underlying conditions to take extreme care and not rely on others. This is by far the most effective way to protect oneself. Best way to do so is by decreasing possible exposure themselves.
That said, I agree, wear a mask, no need to be a wienerhead. It isn't a big deal |

I still don’t think most people understand that wearing a mask is to protect others, not yourself.
The water droplets suspended until air can still land on your eyes which are mucous membranes so even the best ‘N95’ medical grade masks are not effective at preventing infection for the wearer, but are effective at reducing the potential infection to others.
Again I read that the virus is smaller than X, which is a stupid arguments. The virus is traveling on water droplets that are thousands, if not millions of times bigger than the virus itself.
Wearing a mask in public places is a show of respect for other people. Wearing a mask protects others, not yourself.
The same people who are against abortion because “every life matters” are the ones who are adamantly against wearing face masks to potentially save someone’s life. Pretty hypocritical if you ask me.
Anyone in true fear of returning to work because of the virus simply needs to go to a doctor and get a note excusing them from work for whatever time period due to anxiety. You can’t lose your job or pension from a medical condition.
This virus is just beginning to get bad, the worst is yet to come. Ideas that it will be better in a few months and schools and sports venues will be safe are ignorant. If everyone would have taken precautions, worn a mask and social distanced from the start we could have been in a better spot today. But people didn’t, the president convinced stupid people that it was a hoax and no big deal, and we are dealing with the fallout of that now and for months to come.
The people yelling the loudest for things to reopen and for sports to continue are the ones who didn’t do what was necessary for that to happen. And we all suffer for it.
This country has passed the point of containing the spread. The virus will continue until a vaccine is available. In my opinion Sports will not happen this fall, schools will not reopen. There will be attempts to do so, but after the ramifications are felt they will be reversed exactly like Texas and Florida trying to reopen too early and now closing down because of it.
The NFL will try, because of the amount of money involved, but after athletes start dying, they will close down. The other sports leagues won’t even attempt a regular season until the vaccine is available. I don’t know what to believe about the timeline of when a potential vaccine will be available. My guess is somewhere around the end of the year or beginning of next year. But what I do believe is that due to our lousy leadership, life will not return to normal until the vaccine is fully distributed. |
