Murray also drafted V. Olafsson soooo..? - SuperCat
It was Regier’s holdover scout from Sweden whom left the org shortly after.

I don't see the point, maybe it's just me, but trading mid round picks to fill spots in your lineup because you have no players available to fill those areas because you have nothing in your system to take those spots. 2 GM's that messed up. One traded everything away, one tried to fill needs with blah players, they both messed up. - Buff36

And for what’s its worth this Pegula Era Bills regime also passed on P. Mahomes, D.Watson, and L. Jackson...
A couple of MVP qbs and a Pro Bowler in that group. Where could that team be with one of those guys, lol?!! Meanwhile Kyle Allen threw for more yards than Josh Allen last year... So let’s not give this meddling ownership too much credit on that side of the ball either. |

Disaster I think is def a little off base. Had the Sabres had Orioles, E. Kane and Lehner this year they would have surely made the playoffs.
Okposo’s deal has been very tough to swallow, but he’s been riddled with injuries that nobody could have seen coming. Maybe that deal (like Moulson) speaks more to building from within and signing ur own (like Reinhart) and trying to avoid the bidding wars of free agency. - SuperCat
Lehner made what 4-5 mil this year?
So add 7.5+7+7.5 to the cap.
So then remove Skinner, Johansson, Miller, Montour, Kahun
We’d still be the same below average team |

Do scouts draft players or GMs? Gotta give Murray credit where credit is due. |

Why would they need to buyout Ennis? His contract would have ended the same time as Pominville's did and it cost less. If you're not trying to win anyway (as is your contention), you simply let it play out.
For that matter, Ennis could have played 2C in 2018-2019. God knows it wouldn't have been worse than what they did.
Could have used Foligno along the way and saved a pick if youre not trying to win anyway. The whole thing is a contradiction - jcragcrumple
No doubt.
Anything but Fast, North-South. Pommer, Scandy, Bergy, Sobotka, Frolik, Simmonds ....wasted Cap and Assets.
Horible player evaluation, virtually ignored Analytics compared to many. He was a disaster that found good nugets in Joker and likely Kahun and not much else. He rode Risto's plummenting trade value into the ground, over paid and over termed for Skinner.
Produced a 25th roster 3 years into re-rebuild all the while incurring a Cap Overage.
As was said before, he eRned his dismissal by the Pergula's who did it for much of the wrong reasons.
But, let's have faith that Kerry and Tim know best!
Yeah is! |

Later round picks are usually picked by regional scouts who convince the GM to pick them. It's a common occurrence, if the scout is super high on a prospect.
Murray gets credit for listening to the scout. |

Replace Skinner with the cheaper E.Kane who is At least physical when he’s not scoring? I’d make that trade all day.
Trade Johansson, Miller, Montur and all the cap mess we got for ORiley? Done in a heartbeat!!
Kahun is ok but he got here late and didn’t do enough to move the meter. He got his point riding with Crosby on a Pitt team that is DYING for young inexpensive forwards to fill out their 3rd line. If they thought he was gonna be special they wouldn’t have let him go. Kahun will prob be another Vesey. Vesey/Johansson/Kahu is nothing more than a 3rd line on a normal team.
And I get a 28 yr old goalie that can see, who just so happens to be the best if a keeper under 30 on the market this year? I’m good with that too. Literally the only thing Botril did was draft Dahlin. If Murraya squad finishes last again and Tim does that pick what are we even talking about. No contest.

Exactly, Murray (a former scout) gets credit for managing his guys and making a great pick. |

Except we finished bottom 10 WITH those players. How is now any different?
We wouldn't have Dahlin, so you can't say that. |

What's worse: the smell of vomit left in the car for 2 days in 100° heat, or the taste of milk left on the counter for a week?
Thats the game we're playing with TM and JB. Good riddance to both |

I've pointed out many times that JB did not have patience. His patience was a myth. He spent random poop scattershot. It's an untenable argument to say he was patient and building through the draft when he made 6 selections per draft - jcragcrumple

the cherry on top
sabres win streak to start the season, chris taylor was an assistant on the sabres bench - homiedclown
And is then for some reason fired....... hated that move always liked Taylor as a coach really seemed to be getting a lot out of the guys in the ahl. |

He repeatedly quoted the mantra of drafting and developing. That rings totally hollow when you dont even have a full complement of picks in a draft - ever. It was never a patient rebuild. His whole shtick was a lie. He spent picks like a moron on players that were, by-and-large, bad or at least not objectively "good." |

To your point, maybe we still have Dahlin then.
But that supporting cast was better than this one, and if it’s only by a couple games than so be it.. Jack needed time to grow into the binaries leader of this squad. And right now all they really need is a #2 center and a decent goalie. It-so fact-to we’d be in the playoffs this year and still have Dahlin!

So he gets the credit for the pick, you just said it. Scouts don’t turn in the pick to the league, GMs do. |

I understand the Sabres wanting to operate the Amerks differently, but I still wonder why Tayls was canned. If you give the man a directive like play the kids more, I'm sure he can be flexible. |

That's precisely what I said.
It's like a scientist telling you to wear a mask. You get credit for wearing it, because you wore it, because someone that knows what they're talking about told you to.
Every single player outside of the top 2 overall picks that Murray made have bore no fruit. Except Olofsson. Who convinced Murray to rubber stamp the pick and submit it. Good for Tim, he sucked. Mr. Pro Scout couldn't (frank)ing scout. |

You guys are missing the obvious with the JBOTTS firing. Timeline:
Kim says Botts is coming back as they're on the same page and know more than the fans, in her infamous interview
3 weeks later, the NHL plan becomes clear with draft not happening until October and Sabres not playing again until January 2021
Kim sees this long gap of inactivity as a way to save $$$ and help preserve the "Pegula lifestyle" by firing half of her employees
JBOTTS doesn't go along with this plan and is axed.

Sure looks like that. Also, we haven't made the playoffs in 9 years. Maybe, just maybe, they wanted a new approach and wanted to use the time to build a different looking department.
I have yet to see an argument as to why anyone but Chris Taylor didn't deserve to be fired. |

We're better off without him, by far |
