If you negotiate a contract with Phoenix, but need to sign with the leafs to get paid a signing bonus and then get traded to Phoenix, I don't think players would really care.

They would get paid, and during these times, I doubt they would care what logo is on the cheque.

I think the signing bonus is nice....but I don't think it means enough for a player to weaken the team he is signing for.

It is just a bonus for a player.

As much as I hate to say it, the NHL would put a stop to it. It's obvious cap-circumvention, as you are not allowed to trade for money.

It's brilliant, but alas, it's not going to happen.

Can't remember, but they wouldn't like it.

Regardless, we should certainly continue with the high bonus amounts. It makes the contracts much more tradeable to cash strapped teams later in the term with really no downside.

Funnily enough Kerfoot had the same numbers on the 3rd line as Kadri did the previous year. He's pretty young, I think people are judging him too soon.

Ya Barrie didnt work out as hoped, but people were kinda foolish to think hed get 70 plus pts.
Had barrie gotten 55pts people would have loved the trade even more.
As it stands barrie and kerfoot accumulated 67pts to kadris 36.
The leafs got younger and a top 4 Dman.
Good trade for dubie imo specially when he was cap crunched
