The number of people on unemployment has already been cut in half. Last month saw the greatest job growth in US history. Get used to it. Four more years.

You keep saying that the same coaches get recycled yet 12 coaches are on their first job. 8 are on their second stint after taking either assistant roles or head coaching roles in a different league. Hardly recycled and most are getting a second chance. Here is a list of "recycled"

Pretty much everyone here who has argued Ruff's a good coach is missing the point: there is a group of people who are constantly recycled in the NHL. Lindy Ruff literally failed several times so badly that he was fired. The fact that the NHL is so comfortable hiring and rehiring the same 62 year old white guys over and over again is the problem.

You can say whatever you want to, but like all 60 year olds, Ruff learned what he knows 30 years ago. Are you telling me that there are no younger people who have come along since 1997 - when a 40 year old Ruff got his first NHL job - who could do coach in the NHL?

People are like yeah how many teams have been successful doing that? I would say the same amount of teams who've won with Lindy Ruff coaching.

Also, most Devils fans are against the hire and have criticized how ownership as handled the coaching search from the beginning. However, they apparently value their analytics department a lot (one of the big reasons Shero was fired) and ownership seemed to have a lot of influence in the coaching search, so who knows how they ended on Ruff.

It's not as cut and dry as Tanner makes it out to be.

What Tanner leaves out is that certain players at the mid range level may have many intangibles that aren't reflected on the stst sheet. Leadership, defensive play, personality, experience , making line mates play better are qualities that shouldn't be easily dismissed. This is why teams pay them in mid millions price range. Yes, sometimes certain players. Don't plan out, but that can be said for players up and down the lineup

Maybe a reason why Leafs are exciting but not winners. Obviously, time will tell.

NHL GMs don't treat the cap lightly, and having a core of players beyond high prices talent is needed to win a cup. It's just not as simple as interchanging mid level players with high end talent.

Facts be tough for some I guess. Every example I gave can be supported by data, but we all know that doesn't matter to you and those like you.
