It would be nice to get Lefrenniere (sp?) - one in seven chance.
They’d get a good puck at 9 or 10.
But look at some recent overall #1s:
McDavid - 5 years in the league, one postseason
Eichel - 5 years, none
Matthews - 4 years, never out of the first round
Tavares, Hall, Nugent-Hopkins, Yakupov, MacKinnon, Ekblad - not much going on in Mays or Junes.
Play to win - cheer for your team to win - no matter the circumstances. The drafts will sort themselves out. - StLBravesFan
I certainly understand that side of the argument and if I believed they had a shot to win more than 1 round I would be on your side, but I don't, so I'm not. And I know the old adage that anything can happen in the playoffs but they have been a borderline playoff team for 3 years now and there's a reason for that - they haven't been good enough to even make the playoffs let alone advance, and they still aren't. |

Reports that multiple players on the Habs have tested positive for COVID. Despite earlier reports that Domi was going to wait 7-10 days to decide on whether he will opt in or out as a type-1 diabetic, I would imagine this could seal the deal that he is out. |

Think he meant Boeing.
If he meant the Hawks, which I doubt, they started in Portland as the Rosebuds. - Elbows15
Regina actually.

I read 3 Habs tested positive. Also Mathews out of quarantine and will join Leafs training camp. |

The amount of money these companies generate they will probably offer the difference to their employees to off set the cost. It's a bit different there |

So the city of Seattle recently passed a law taxing companies that employ workers making over a $150K per year anywhere from 0.7 to 2.4%. (Government agencies exempt from the tax.) Assuming the Seattle franchise will have 20 plus players and numerous employees making over 150K, conservatively the total effected payroll will be over $80M. Figure 80M is at the 2.4% high end of the tax bracket, so the owner of the Seattle franchise just got hit with about a $2M expense for doing business there. - boilermaker100
Oops misread this, interesting i thought they were taxing the workers

Washington has no state Income Tax, so they are still way more tax friendly than most states.

I think the Hawks would fare better than all of these other teams because of their leadership. That being said, I will never root for them to lose. However, if they lose, I could see Dach-Lafreniere being the next Toews-Kane. |

Interesting wonder if Bazos is going to move? - BetweenTheDots
No state income tax in Washington, no reason for Bezos to move.; He can also afford his own security, he could care less about the fact the arena is 2 miles from the chop zone. |

We'll see, but then again if you want to have your corporate headquarters in a big beautiful city along the Pacific Ocean it doesn't matter which state you're in all 3 now have corporate tax rates. |

About 24 hours for NHLers to opt out of playing. So far no Hawks, knock on wood. If anyone out there is a betting person, who do you think would be the most likely Hawk to choose not to play?
I would select Crawford. New youngster at home I hear and he always struck me as the type that marches to a different drummer. - boilermaker100
I'd put my money on Maatta as another likely dropout candidate. Recent thyroid cancer bout, and if I'm not mistaken, autoimmune issues that preceded it. |

If Crawford opts out then the Blackhawks will be out too.
Which merely causes a little stir of excitement and dreaming for LaFranierre landing in Chicago.
Well nothing wrong about dreaming.
White Sox might be the team to rally behind for any hope of playoffs
Their starting pitching could be good; Cubs starting pitching is very "iffy." |

In a way you are right, Bezos “punished” Seattle by not building its second corporate Tower. Part of those jobs were supposed to go to Queens, until AOC got involved, saying the city and state were giving away too much in tax revenue to AMazon for I think it was 25,000 direct jobs.
