I think it's one of those "we had someone call about him" more than "we're actively shopping him"
- NewYorkNuck

I think there is some bite to the rumor. Again I don't think it should have been released going into the playoffs but I take it as just another time TSN are looking for ratings by stirring the hornets nest. They really are a bunch of hacks.

The thing I like about the idea is simple . I like Toffoli better than Boeser. I thought Boeser was overpaid and he had flaws in his game. His shot was not as good last year , he was a defensive liability IMO and he was moved down at times to Gaudettes line because he was ineffective. This is my opinion which every one is entitled too.

I understand there are many here that feel different they are entitled to their opinion.

I would choose Tofilli over Boeser all the time every day. He is a much better 200 foot player.

There is a big hole on the RHD that needs to be fixed and again my opinion is Tanev is not my guy. The fan base here can like him but I am not a big fan and want something better.

Moving Jake or Boeser was a slam dunk for me and fill in the RHD .

So then, would the Avs?

Then a future left side of Hughes, Bryam, OJ?

- NewYorkNuck

So would I, but a more pressing concern is how they get rid of bad salary, as oppose to Boeser's good salary to sign another top six forward in Toffoli.

Concentrating on moving Sutter, Baertschi, Roussel or Beagle's salary should be done WAY BEFORE they ever even consider moving Boeser to save cap money....it's so stupid it's beyond words. If they move Boeser just to sign Toffoli, that'll be the last straw for me, unless it's for a good young defenseman.

Would you, if these Boeser rumors are true, trade him to the Avs for Bowen Byram?
- NewYorkNuck

They’re not - at all

Why in the hot fawk would a team That’s about to enter the playoffs(play in) even be discussing/contemplating a trade that can’t happen for at least a few months - let alone leak it to the media??

Sekeres solidifieD himself as a massive hack on this one.

They have a good GM, so that's hard to answer.

Oh I agree – they shouldn't do it just to move money. But if they move Boeser for a guy like Byram who would be coming in on an ELC, that'd be a big move.

They could still get rid of Rous fairly easily, and Sutter could be gone with a sweetner. Resigning players would be easier at that point.

I don't want to get rid of Roussel . Lind will be ready in a year or two and truthfully I like what Roussel brings . No hurry to move him.

What if Bo or Gauds gets injured ? Who steps in? You can keep Sutter here one more year . He can fill in on any line.

To get a good Dman back you need to give up a quality player.

Sven or Loui could be bought out or traded but maybe they wont

I didn't take your original question as a move money type deal. You need to give up quality to get quality. We address a need on D while dealing with a glut up front.

Hard to find quality D without giving something in return, or you have to draft them.

Edit: Sorry Vantel just read your post above basically saying the same thing.

For sure, Byram is really really good, I'd be OK with that move. As for the other guys, Roussel has value but you'd have to eat salary as he's overpaid regarding cap hit, same for Sutter, he has value but he's now overpaid for what he brings so you'd most likely have to eat salary.

If Benning could eat one million from each of their salaries for one year that still frees up around five million to sign a much needed top six forward like Toffoli.

Not to mention sending down Baertschi and Eriksson which saves another 1.9 million.

that doesn't make the team better in the immediate term, moving the chairs around on the proverbial sinking ship. To get better they need more top six guys not just swapping out one for another....it makes no sense.

UNLESS.....it's for a quality young defenseman!!!

i haven't been against exploring the market for boeser to help fill the holes on d.

but... the way you use boeser and jake interchangeably is nuts. if they are trying to acquire the same player, you're going to have to add a 1st rounder to jake to get the same return.

anyway, there is no way on earth i want toffolli over boeser. that's going to be a contract of diminishing returns.

We own his rights for another year so I don't think he's allowed to do that - unless granted permission from the team. And if he declines his ELC now and then asks to go overseas to play, it pretty much says "I don't wanna play for you for, but please do me this favour while I fu*k you over in the near future..." why would they agreed to that?
- Brooks_Light

It's 2 years, cap friendly has, his rights owned by Canucks until August 15, 2022. So if he doesn't sign now he can't sign and play pro whether NHL, AHL, Euro until next signing window Spring of 2021.

A Boeser and Jake return would obviously be different. It would fully depend on the return .

As I said you can think what you guys want . I think Boeser is going to diminish in value seeing he is not on Peteys line but again it is my opinion only.

How much dead cap space are you comfortable with? If we're eating a couple of mil in salary to sign a 5 million dollar player, in my mind that makes said 5 million dollar player more like a 7 million dollar player.

disagreements over hockey matters is a change of pace around here.

i disagree with your assessment on boeser. his shot is something that can't be taught. he's got a safe goal scoring floor and a trigger man in the nhl is a very valuable thing.

tofolli is older and i believe him to be more dependant on linemates than you make boeser out to be.

anyway, like you said, just a difference of opinion on 2 players.

If we want to fill holes, we have to give to get. If we want to get out from some of these contracts that are creating a jam, we need to get out of the ones that are easier to move. Rous is great, but he's the most moveable. Sutter the best candidate to move as he frees up a ton of space, and has some minimal value.

There's a log jam at forward, so ya, there is a hurry to move some players.

Ferland, Rous, Sutter, JV, Motte, Gaud, ZacMac, Leivo, Eriksson, Beagle all sitting in the bottom 6. That's not even including the players who are nearly ready to make the jump.
