I agree. On the flip side, this opens up roster opportunities for younger players that they might not have normally had, or at least had to wait a couple of years for while vets washed out. Makes for interesting times within our depth chart, and the development curve.

Glad Sven opted out because Lind is one of those players to me.

- Load Management

Lind is interesting as he's likely the type of player Seattle could go for in the expansion draft. The other goalies they can grab would make Marky below their list and believe the Canucks would protect Demko.

For this season, and next, Lind would have to beat out ZackMac and Motte to get into the lineup that's with shelving LE and injuries to Roussel and Sutter.

I heard from a credible source Jake took Loui to Brandi's last night. Told him to go upstairs he would be up there in 10 minutes and then Ghosted him.

There's too many forwards as it is, where does everyone fit?

Miller Pettersson Toffoli
Pearson Horvat Boeser
Roussel Gaudette Virtanen
MacEwen Beagle Sutter

Ferland
Eriksson
Leivo
Motte
Baertschi

- Pacificgem

Like you said, acquire a good young D. Leivo/TT pending UFA's.

The pro scouting has done more harm than good. If they had done better this team’s turnaround would have been quicker and a whole lot smoother.

Again, I just wish this franchise could get all cylinders clicking at the same time for once.

When they didn't have assets to spend they went after B players... but Miller, Pearson and Toffoli show you're wrong on what the pro scouting is doing lately.

Motte is also an RFA and I don't see him being signed.

True, but I think you can take Leivo and Sven off of this list for this year. Injuries will expose the strength of depth from there.

Next year I honestly have no clue, something has to give and the possibilities are endless.

It's really too bad Ferland got injured, you could move Pearson and have Ferland Horvat Boeser as a second line, which would be outstanding!! Boeser had a great first year with Horvat before Pettersson ever arrived on the scene. Hank & Danny did help his PP numbers though.

Pearson's a good trade chip, but wouldn't help getting TT signed.

Ferland will be back on LTIR.

That free's up a bit.

He's at camp so we'll know if Ferland is past his injury and effective or will wind up retiring on LTIR.

Arguments could be made why would you move a 20 goal scorer on a 3 million dollar contract when you talk about moving Pearson?

Like it is pointed out here in a lot of the posting there is a lot of skill on this forward group .

Moving Pearson and demoting both Baertschi and Eriksson would get you TT but you're probably right, Ferland will end up on LTIR with one good hit.

jake lacks the brains to be cunning. if he ghosted him, it's probably because he got lost in the parking lot (and he valeted the car.)

Boeser isn’t overpaid at all - in every facet - Especially compared to slew of the Other contracts that were handed out last summer to his fellow draft classmates. I actually think he’s underpaid and along with Horvats contract it’s a bargain.

Of course he has flaws in his game he’s 23! his game grew into more playmaking this year which is a plus making him more well rounded and he’s still working on improving his play in his own end.

you Have to take into consideration that his wrist injury/surgery from last season will heal - probably is fully now since the lockdown. I also don’t think it’s a Brock or Toffoli choice - there are ways to keep both (granted, not easy ones)
Keep in mind He was only moved down the lineup for a couple games when he came back from his injury also. Now that Petey and Miller are the trigger men on the PP his goals were bound to drop off a little bit he’s still very young and can easily be a 30-40 goal scorer in the near future - those arnt guys you trade.

- Brooks_Light

Trading Boeser to keep Toffoli is indictative of Benning's ineffectual management and pro scouting. After drafting, he sucks at every aspect of the job including choosing a coach.

I didn't mind what Pearson did there at basically the same cost. Plugging a healthy Ferland in would have made that line heavier and nasty to play against for the opposing D. But a healthy Ferland has turned into a bit of a White Whale. I think his game has to change for the sake of self preservation....at that point I keep Pearson.

EK reporting Sven Baertschi opting out...he was never in
- Pacificgem

Yes, he was.

"The Canucks have also added Sven Baertschi, Tyler Graovac, Justin Bailey, Brogan Rafferty, Ashton Sautner, Guillaume Brisebois, Olli Juolevi and Jalen Chatfield from the Utica Comets to their training camp roster."

Lind is being called up to replace him at training camp.

No one is saying they suck, except you, what we're saying is they're a bubbly team and we're spit-balling on how to move them past that level.

The scoring is VERY top heavy, Miller, Pettersson, Horvat & Boeser do most of the heavy lifting in that department. Pearson had a good year but it's only his second 20 goal season in seven seasons. He's 28 next month and has value, if Ferland could stay healthy he's the same 20 goal guy with a similar salary plus he's way more physical...at least he was before his head went soft

It's really unfortunate Benning backed himself into a corner like this.

Semantics...he was never in their plans and there's no room for him.
