Meanwhile, we have the first player to opt out: Travis Hamonic of Calgary.

I don't blame him. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to play under the current climate, although with both hub cities being in Canada it certainly makes it more feasible. Still, difficult to possibly be away from your loved ones for months.

I hope they make the playoffs (16 teams) and the pick talk will be gone.
- Pacificgem

I hope they draft Lafreniere!

Absolutely. I also hope we respect the fact that they have no obligation to share the reasons behind their decisions. That's personal.

Yeah, I'm thinking a few fans might freak out on some players. I hope it isn't the case.

No, Vancouver. This is open to interpretation unless i'm mistaken.

Sleuth Carol is working on it.

It appears they are now saying is you are already considered a "playoff" team even if you don't advance to the next round.

Got that, but as Carol stated, we need some clarity on if it’s just for statistical purposes or not.

As I’ve said, I want them to beat Minnesota (in tough) and be part of the 16 teams which will make it official. The guys played well this year and it’s my opinion they deserve a playoff round.

Well, I am only on Page 9 and have been defeated by clauses on disability and health insurance, so I'm packing it in for tonight.

More to come, as they like to say around these parts...

As I said, I admire your dedication. Legalese is so damn boring. If not, I may have become a lawyer. Oh yeah, then there's the whole moral thing.

The Canucks finished near the bottom of the league for half a decade. It's my opinion they deserve the 1st overall pick, which they've never had.

Short of winning the cup, it's my best case scenario.

They were close...but not quite a playoff team. Will be interesting to see where it goes.

I think that's just a catchphrase fro pre-Covid times that translated to "you didn't make the playoffs." I wouldn't read too much into that.

I'm reading through the Memorandum of Understanding right now (71 pages!) There are lots of old CBA paragraphs that are being replaced by new paragraphs, and also lots of details to be filled in later - you know both sides were under the gun in a big way to get this done in time to make the return-to-play work.

I'm worried but not convinced, for now...

- Carol Schram

Also there is 2yrs remaining on the current cba. New cba starts after & a 4yr extension. Some things are amended to suit current conditions unforeseen & adjustments made accordingly. I don’t believe anything else is retroactive.

Pretty (frank)ed up the US has had more Covid cases in the past 48 hours than we've had since the outset. IDGAF if they have 9 times the population.

That's quite possibly the worst leadership i've seen in my lifetime.
