It’s pretty crazy how society is now.

When I was younger I used to think adults were smarter than they are. It turns out, everyone is blinded by their massive egos. No matter how much it hurts someone else, people will do anything even for the smallest gains on their part.

Ego and tribalism are the biggest threats to civilization.

The fact that 'alternative facts' was a phrase said with a straight face from the White House press room podium in the face of photographic evidence witnessed by billions was chilling. An American president calling the press enemy of the people is tragic.

I really feel for those poor Americans right now. They were literally told by their governments that it was ok to go out to the bars or restaurants or beaches. Who the (frank) wears a mask at a bar when the government tells you you don’t have to and you’re getting hammered.

People in their 40s and younger are going to start getting really sick and this poop isn’t going to go away

I really hope that the protests that happened after the George death show some change. Maybe we’ll see it in local elections - DAs, local councils, etc. Progressives have done well in the primaries so far. The joint policy committees set up by Biden and Bernie pushed Biden further than he would ever have gone on his own.

But yeah, more pressure and pressure that doesn’t let up after November.

I doubt anything has changed.

But it’s nice to see people organize like that. It’s a long road to actual systemic change, but at least now people know that they can show up in large numbers. That’s what scares the establishment.

DW does a good job explaining this in a recent doc about online misinformation. It explains how humans create blindspots, and that we can’t really help it and it’s easy to exploit.
