I think different racial groups might be misinterpreting the concept of social distancing. Many many examples in Brampton, Surrey, Mississauga area where, identifiable people, that shall be unnamed, are getting together socially outside of the guidelines... Then there's a group of people that are able to actively protest in the USA, and apparently that's ok as far as the virus goes as well.

So let's not blame the racial group that is following guidelines for any disparities with groups that aren't to the extent possible.

Agree with wearing masks. Agree with people caring about each other enough to wear a peice of cloth over their face.

But I don't agree with blaming politicians for deaths that they did not directly cause.

My one caveat is that politicians who didn't ban travel from hot spots should be held accountable, and investigated for ties to China. Those medical officers who didn't want travel bans and actively provided negligent advice should be fired and face a criminal inquiry to see if they were criminally negligent or in the pocket of China.

That’s a complete and incorrect generalization. There was widespread following of lockdown orders through the northeast US, especially NYC. You just have to look at how the numbers went down to understand that people did exactly what they were asked to do and it saved thousands of lives.

They flooded the harbor when the medical ship showed up, orthodox Jews were upset they couldn't hold mass funerals, open parks, other groups were holding "mansion" parties using airbnb, etc... All kinds of stuff was going on there...

Then why say it at all? I’m not really trying to get into an argument or anything and I’m not attacking you or anything like that here, but when I and everyone I know have been in quarantine for > 4 months, it’s pretty (frank)ing annoying to continuously read that “we don’t do what we’re told, don’t care about anyone, have a selfish individualistic culture”. There are parts of my country that are treating this as a joke. There are parts that are not. Our federal government, is the real joke right now. Our President didn’t want to wear a mask into a medical center for veterans. A (frank)ing medical center. Left, right, on the moon, I don’t care, if you can’t admit that is beyond stupid, then you’re an absolute oxygen thief. But there are plenty of us states that are doing the right thing, but instead it’s Americans this, Americans that. Guess what? You and anyone else generalizing a country of nearly 400 million, is no better than any other generalization I’m sure you scoff at.

Canadians elected a guy who wears blackface so often he can't tell you how many times he's done that or when. He also was against travel restrictions from China until two months after the USA imposed them. Didn't implement restrictions on Europe and middle east travel until people from there brought virus to Canada. So there's more than one person to blame.

Blacks and hispanics are far more likely to work in essential services where they don’t have the option to work from home like you. So don’t brag about about how smart you are for working from home and jogging safely in your nice park. Not everybody has those options.

Yes, I find it strange that Trump asked Xi for a trade deal because he needs one for reelection, and then he pulled the US medical people out of China. Smells like a very ill-timed quid pro quo where Trump put his own campaign optics ahead of the country. Of course it could also be pure incompetence on his part. It's strange that even after the travel ban, 40 000 people arrived in the US from China.

Thankfully for Americans they'll have more fact-based, adult leadership from the White House after November 2.

Social distancing and lockdowns in NY, NJ, Phili, Mass saved thousands of lives. Yes people broke the quarantines on occasion but the fact that those were clear exceptions that had the large majority of people pissed. Check the studies on the impacts of lockdowns or just look at how the numbers came down.
