Yes, I find it strange that Trump asked Xi for a trade deal because he needs one for reelection, and then he pulled the US medical people out of China. Smells like a very ill-timed quid pro quo where Trump put his own campaign optics ahead of the country. Of course it could also be pure incompetence on his part.
