Jared Bednar says Colin Wilson is "not fit to play" right now. That's really all coaches/management can say about players that aren't on the ice right now, per new protocol agreements with NHLPA
prepare for the rumors on everybody. - Codes1087
"The National Hockey League announced on Monday the results from the latest round of coronavirus (COVID-19) testing among players who have reported to team training facilities for voluntary workouts.
In 4,934 tests administered to over 600 players throughout Phase 2, 30 came back positive. This is an increase of seven from the results released last week, when 23 of over 2,900 tests had come back positive."
Seems quite possible all these players tested positive. |

it very well could be. I understand why the players negotiated the privacy of covid19 results, I guess it just means nothing is disclosed from here on out. |

this feels like a race against the clock by the league trying to get the teams to the bubble cities. |

Plus they say 13 more tested positive before the start of phase 3. |

I asked that yesterday.. can't remember who replied that since the Canucks own his rights, they'd have to agree to lend him to one of those teams. However, the writing would be on the wall for his time with the Canucks, so they'd just be better off trading his rights. - NewYorkNuck
Canucks own his rights until next August - then he becomes a UFA and can sign with anyone like Fox, Vesey did.
Until then he'd have to get permission to go play overseas like Juolevi or Palmu did.
Turning down his opportunity to sign with us in the next 3 days means he has no where to play until at least Jan.1st - when NCAA stated they would revisit whether or not their season would commence.
The kid has zero leverage, if he declines to sign, it means he doesn't get to play ANY hockey at least until Jan.1,2021.
Turning pro has never made more sense. At least he has a chance of playing or training with the team or possibly Utica, depending on what happens with the AHL.

It sure does. The longer they wait the more significant players could miss the start of the play in. Will be interesting to see if they let them trickle in to the bubble as they get healthy. |

Seems very similar to this:

honestly, it has felt this way since the absolute beginning. The way the NHL has conducted business in regards to the return, the "bidding" war in regards to the Hub arenas, everything feels mickey mouse to me. |

i know a decent number of players make homes/lives in the city they play for but i thought it was wierd there wasnt even a discussion about teams from hotbeds having camp in a more neutral location. i know extra two weeks from family.. yadda yadda yadda but flying players into florida and then coming (back) to canada seems like a greater/unneccessary risk
edit: florida for example |

The Canucks own his NHL rights until next August. Juolevi and Palmu had both signed with the Canucks, which is why they could be loaned by the Canucks to Euro teams.
Rathbone has not signed with the Canucks, so he is free to do anything he wishes outside of the NHL.

From what Bo said - they brought each player back to a 3 day quarantine in which they got tested twice. Then pending negative tests - they were placed into on/off ice group workouts of 7 players for a week or so. Which sounds pretty reasonable and a safe way to slowly increase/integrate small to larger bubbles. But players are trickling in at different/later times, so it's possible with the higher numbers of positive tests coming back today - these are from guys at the beginning of their quarantine and not necessarily being exposed to the rest of their teammates right? |

Ferland has already been on the ice in Van though? So seems like he has been back for a little bit. |

I cant find that rule - do you have more info on it??
Based on what you said - and I certainly don't know for sure - but I can't see him being allowed to sign in the AHL with another team? IF thats the case, why would he be allowed to sign with any European leagues. If it is allowed, and he signed in the KHL for example, doesnt that mean the "slide rule" would come into effect? |

Thoughts on these Boeser Rumors? I actually don’t mind it (and I love boeser) if we can get a solid return at lower cap. |

I didn't mean Ferland specifically - I just meant in general how teams are bringing players back - seemed pretty safe and legit to me. |

the incubation period and asymptomatic phase of having covid 19 can be upto 14 days, which is why anyone who travels was asked to quarantine for this amount of time upon arrival. I applaud the diligence on testing by the NHL and its players, but honestly, im sort of biased and will always look at this whole return to playing a joke, as it just doesn't make much sense to me given the circumstances.
to add. The testing is still extremely limited in that you can be in the asymptomatic phase of covid19 and draw a negative test result while still having it. I imagine this is why there was a surge of NHL players test positive for Covid19 during phase 2. |

Hockey is non-essential so starting again is a joke? So by that logic wouldn't any non essential business opening be a joke? I'm not saying I agree or disagree. To me a restaurant is non-essential but most have been given strict guidelines to re-open. So has the NHL, so if they follow the rules/guidelines why shouldn't they be at least allowed to attempt a comeback? |

If it were to happen, it should be for a young top 4 (preferably top 2) defenseman. Anything else, ie; creating cap space, would be foolish and a step backwards. In my humble opinion. |

So essentially you can have the virus, not know (or test negative multiple times) then pass it on and kill the next person? Jesus H, that's why this virus is fawking terrifying.
Thanks for you info - I believe you said youre a health care, front line worker??

are we going to compare outdoor dining, take out options and adhering to 6 foot social distancing with Players sweating, hitting and near face to face contact with each other for people's entertainment? My stance hasn't changed since the beginning, so maybe posting this in this blog was the wrong decision, but you aren't going to convince me otherwise until every player is injected with a vaccine and waits 2 weeks, again, just my opinion. |

i am not front line, my wife is (RN)
I am in procurement for healthcare.
The above is why this virus is so f*cking scary man. To add to the "scary", i don't even want to know what the results are going to be from long term effects from this are going to be on peoples lungs. It truly is a very scary thing, and we are just in the beginning stages. |
