If it were to happen, it should be for a young top 4 (preferably top 2) defenseman. Anything else, ie; creating cap space, would be foolish and a step backwards. In my humble opinion. - Marwood
Does it seem weird to anybody else that the earliest he could get traded is at the draft, which is tentatively scheduled for October 9–10, 2020. Why would the team leak a Boeser trade rumour for something three months down the road?? Am I taking fawking crazy pills here in seeing that this is the biggest pile of horsesh&t rumour ever constructed? |

if we are working for cap space id rather have boeser and ~$2m less in cap space than virtanen. thats assuming some of the contract guesses of 3-3.5m are correct |

are we going to compare outdoor dining, take out options and adhering to 6 foot social distancing with Players sweating, hitting and near face to face contact with each other for people's entertainment? My stance hasn't changed since the beginning, so maybe posting this in this blog was the wrong decision, but you aren't going to convince me otherwise until every player is injected with a vaccine and waits 2 weeks, again, just my opinion. - Codes1087
Nope, you're right not comparable but you get my point. I'm not trying to convince you of anything. Maybe a better comparison is construction. I see tons of it going on and have all along, both large and small crews, sweating, close proximity, outdoors & indoors, no masks, no distancing, no testing or taking temperatures before work, possibly some rules but how to enforce it? New construction, building a fence, large crews installing driveways, road work, swimming pools installation, lawn maintenance crews, roofing (necessity?) home renovations - kitchen/bathrooms. |

It was 'leaked' because Matt Sekeres was desperate for attention. No other purpose. |

i get your point, and i miss hockey as much as every single one of you guys. I am just thinking about the health and safety of the players, their familes, and the risk of exposure to the community because of a game.
what i do see hope in though, is that modern day science is a marvelous thing. How many people get the Bubonic plague every year and what is the fatality rate today. Look at Polio. We will find a vaccine and things will return to normal, we just need time. |

Exactly, it's brutal but the people that take it as gospel are worse.

Problem is, nighthawk is actually a night owl. He regularly straddles the midnight hour so can post numerous times but technically it’s over a two day period. Very complex, owl-like behaviour. - bloatedmosquito

So I have a question. Tried googling can't seem to find answer.
For the play in round, do the individual stats count as playoff?
I think they should count as regular season ... then you wouldn't throw off playoff records etc. Say someone sets record for most goals having potentially played 5 more games than anyone else in playoff history.
You wouldn't throw off regular season either because no one will have more than 82 games played. Too bad so sad for reg season awards for teams/players that got booted early.
Just thinking about looking at the back of a hockey card for future generations.
For what it's work, I hate asterisks. I honestly feel like if they can cancel a whole season and break long tradition of awarding stanley cup over CBA and $, then they probably should have cancelled this season and playoff over an infectious disease. I say this as someone who really misses hockey and looks forward to watching ... but the common sense doesn't add up to me!

Yeah man, it's scary as hell - especially in regards to what you mentioned about unknown long term effects. Reading stories about healthy folks (young and old) getting the virus and it just completely drains their energy levels coming up on 3 months post beating it. Neurological damage, lingering respiratory issues. Fawk this fawking virus. |

Pretty sure all stats going forward are playoff stats.

Decent new blog on the Sabres, they’re a sad-sack terribly run franchise just like ours, it’s no wonder they’ve followed a similar path throughout their histories - Pacificgem
Other than a sister expansion team I see no comparison whatsoever. |

hey neemer - I'm trying to figure out if Rathbone has the right to sign with another team/league if he declines his ELC in the next 3 days. Poster Mike says he can - but I cant find any rules stating this. Any ideas on that??
I did find this "The NHL allows teams to draft a player, have them go unsigned and explore opportunities in college as an amateur. That team owns the rights of the player throughout their NCAA eligibility and until 30 days after the player has left college. The amateur can opt to join their NHL team when they seem fit."
to me that means he can sign an amateur contract but not a professional?? I wonder if the "slide rule" would come into effect then also? Or if he officially leaves college then he can sign with a pro league outside the NHL, but we still own his rights until next August. |

if i had to guess him leaving harvard doesnt matter anymore. usually a player drafted from chl has to be signed in 2 years or goes back into the draft whereas college lets them be property for 4. i think that status remains and that he could leave for europe for a year before becomign a ufa.
i remember the younger tambellini left north dakota and didnt end up signing with his drafting team nyr until a couple years later but i couldnt say for certain what his official cba status/options were |
