are we going to compare outdoor dining, take out options and adhering to 6 foot social distancing with Players sweating, hitting and near face to face contact with each other for people's entertainment? My stance hasn't changed since the beginning, so maybe posting this in this blog was the wrong decision, but you aren't going to convince me otherwise until every player is injected with a vaccine and waits 2 weeks, again, just my opinion.

Codes I love ya, but just because you are passionate about a topic and others have varying degrees of passion or interest in the subject, shouldn't make you regret participating in a discussion forum.

Brooks even stated that he wasn't agreeing or disagreeing, he was discussing the subject.

You have great input to add, keep it up.

But you probably slept through your ban, and your street cred takes a hit.

When did you & the Mrs. re-paint the kitchen.
It was a different colour at the last gang meeting.

A week before our minion meeting, we call it Aurora Borealis green with a touch of Psilocybin pink and white streaks.

So the Canucks are able to sign Jack Rathbone as of 9am this morning (the hockey world believes it will get done and that he won't take the alternative route).

From a scout perspective, people are saying he is our best defensive prospect and his numbers with Fox were amazing, but that he actually flourished this year without him (avg 27 minutes per night and playing over 30 minutes in some).

I for one am really excited about this kid. Trying to temper expectations, but if he becomes a 2nd pairing Quinn Hughes-Lite, I would be ecstatic

I posted this earlier...

If Jack signs he cannot play til next season.
He burns a year of ELC.
He gets no bonuses for the burnt year.

If he doesn't sign is he eligible to play in Europe? Does he need approval from the Canucks?

It's very intriguing, it must inspire a great deal of creativity.

Nighthawk is really high on him.

I haven't seen enough to have a strong opinion one way or another. I look at him as another player vying for bottom pairing minutes that could slide up if he performs well.

- golfingsince

My basis is he’s a smart young man. He’s mature for his age. Both are 2 attributes any employer would luv to start with. Onto his hockey he has constantly gotten better at every level by his own play not being tied to other players carrying him. He’s smaller but a solid weight with skills that fit the NHL to a tee. It all bodes well & hence my high optimism. My only wish if he were RHD. Having Hughes Rathbone OJ as LHD I like it huge. Longterm it’s very nice. Now get the complimentary partners for them & we are contending.

id like to see him earn his spot and play in the AHL, much like what Rafferty has done. The game has changed so much, where you can't just be a one dimensional defense man anymore. Considering he was a 4th round pick, its nice to see some great value there.
- Codes1087

Earn his spot no problem here. The AHL is up in the air if there will be a next season. He signs he will play if not playing he will stay in school. Just my take given the covid situation.

i'm excited about him too. i don't follow scouting reports etc so i wasn't able to say if it was a good or bad pick but i was very impressed with his interviews when he was drafted.

i'm not looking to pencil him into the lineup but just hoping that he can be an every day player in about 2 to 3 years.

They can't waive or demote players like the Canucks magically can, so I doubt it. Their problem is too much high end talent unlike the Canucks and their high end bottom 6.
- Marwood

Leafs farm is depleted & depth is a problem. Marlies afford them to run a 20 roster when at home. Allows them to be compliant.

Hey Makita,

appreciate it. I am just trying to not become a complete annoyance on the thread. People know where I stand, and I am just trying to read the audience and not be known for being "that guy". Its nice to see that Brooks and I can have a civil discussion with varying points and opinions without it being nasty

That JT signing never made sense to me. Hell of a player but they could have rolled with Matthews, Nylander and Kadri up the middle. It just goes to show how 1 bad signing can impact the future prospects of any team.

The Leafs have enough skill to win it all, but they were in great shape before bringing in JT and have had to make decisions based on compliance ever since that signing.

- golfingsince

When I’m on the Leafs blog I use that same analogy. It doesn't go over well lol

So after hearing Benning field questions from the media about Rathbone - he only mentioned either he signs his ELC within the next 3 days or he goes back to Harvard (which have cancelled the upcoming season until at least Jan.1) and he would become a UFA by next Aug. HOWEVER, I did read that NCAA players have the right to de-register from college and then the team has a 30 day window to sign them, if they don't agree, then they become a UFA - I assume we lose their rights and they're free to turn pro. I think this is the route Justin Schultz took.

Thaaaaat would be pretty poopty

Really feel they need to change that rule. Don't sign? Back into the draft. The team that drafted you get a compensation pick at the end of the 4th round or something.

It's not about not posting, I'll show you what I mean.

I think the Canucks heading into the play downs will beat Minnesota, they have a good mix of talent, and quite a few strong leaders to keep the group focused.

My concern right now is coaching, and how Markstrom responds after being off for so long.

- Makita

I agree & wonder if Green can keep up to his talent or even be above it. The one question needed answering & we will find out soon enough.

Sounds like a stable character. I can see why someone would go out with a girl like that.
