They are very effective to prolong the life of the virus. - Feds91Stammer
History showed that during the Spanish Flu, Canada required people to wear masks back then & felt it was responsible for keeping the death totals lower in Canada during that Pandemic. The spread of this is through droplets & i have seen more & more doctors agree masks are important. I'll listen to them.
One encouraging thing is that with pandemics it seems that after the 2nd waves the virus burns itself out & just vanishes. There has never been a vaccination or cure for any of these nasty pandemics, we just need to be intelligent, patient & use common sense to survive this thing. May take longer than what people would like. I havent met a person yet that isnt fed up with Covid fcking 19. |

So I asked this question on the Flyers board, but I'll ask it here as well:
If the SCF is Edmonton versus Pittsburgh, and both Crosby and McDavid test positive the day before Game 7, what do you think the NHL would do? - jmatchett383
C’mon man. Everyone knows that injuries are never disclosed in the middle of the playoffs and everyone just plays through |

I got a chuckle out of how the Canucks official Twitter phrased this:
Group 1 update: Micheal Ferland is unfit to play today.
Canucks have an exciting young core, but they sure hamstrung themselves with some contracts last off-season. - Tojo.
I was very glad when the Pens didn't get Ferland. |

Can’t really say they could have predicted his career to be on jeopardy due to a concussion. |

April 1st...only a few weeks into covid F'n up North America. Anything more recent? I wont bother to dig up all the doctors and scientists articles relating to pro mask.
EDIT: this article is literally saying even homemade masks will work to a degree... |

No offense to the University of Minnesota which I'm sure is a fine educational institution, but yeah, let's just listen to them and not the other major organizations recommending masks.
It's always good when ridiculous people pick and choose "facts" to support their contrarian viewpoints.
Again, you're a joke. |

Okay, so I work in a healthcare building and am in charge of life safety. We have weekly calls with local health departments and federal agencies (including CDC). Our building had two guys come from the CDC to review our infection control on Thursday last week. They opened up the floor for questions and when asked about masks and how effective they are and how long they will be worn. They responded with telling us that they will be recommended until 75% of the population gets COVID. They also said they are effective in slowing down the virus but the point of “flatting the curve” isn’t to stop COVID it’s to not overrun our hospitals. Their plan isn’t to wait for a cure. The plan is to have the population get it from natural spread or a vaccine. So wear a mask if you want but they aren’t trying to CURE anything. Just relaying messages 🤷🏻♂️ |

No rational or informed person thinks masks are a cure, but they go a long way to help stifle spreading of the virus. |

Nope. Just slows it down. So we can have a “pandemic” to cripple the economy and give the government more power. But communists like you want that. - Feds91Stammer

Actually in his case there was. He had 2 diagnosed, has all but admitted he may have hidden some, and the one he got last year they never figured out how it started. Combined with his playing style, he was definitely considered an injury and specifically concussion risk.
I am going to delete my last post though. Poor taste by me. |

There are plenty of doctors that masks don’t do poop. - j.boyd919
Yup, there are, but there are more doctors and scientists say they help. It's also about the idea that since there are so many unknowns we should air on the side of caution. Wearing a mask is a small sacrifice to try and help slow this down. |

More? Or just ones with more exposure? - j.boyd919
Coincidentally the same people that say "90 percent of medical experts say masks reduce risk", are the same people that said "polls show HRC has a 95% to win 2016 election" |

If its UPMC you work for, anything they put out is invalid. Their own internal memos of 'we don't care if people come in from areas with high Covid cases or even go to high populations if they may have been exposed' was downright embarrassing to read. They do not care if they lead the state in infecting others since it fills their hospitals.
Yep, (frank) UPMC |

Is wearing a mask as a precaution really a big deal? Is it really infringing so intensely on our rights? It's a (frank)in mask. People need to chill out and stop acting like we're giving away our rights.
And no, it's not just ones with more exposure, but also health organizations. It's simply an effective precaution because we don't know everything about this. I'm coming from a place that no doctors or scientists know everything about this yet, so if there is evidence to show masks can help stifle the spread then what's the big deal? |

If anyone thinks wearing a mask as a precaution is allowing the government to control us then we have nothing to talk about because you're so far gone down the Alex Jones rabbit hole that discussing this makes zero sense. |
