The Islanders should be. Barzal is an RFA and a superstar. Sources tell me the Islanders aren't sure they could match an offer sheet and they keep hearing it is coming...The Canadiens, I am told, are all over this possibility....As could be Columbus or even Colorado....

Stop, The Isles aren't a broke franchise anymore, Offering a massive signing bonus wont do much. There is a reason teams don't use the offersheet, 5 1st rd picks. Yes even if you say the player trumps the picks. 1st rd picks are always used to get better at the trade deadline. How do you improve a team that has no future assets to move? |
