I'm thinking Vancouver will want Palmieri or Gusev + NJ's pick from AZ, in exchange for Boeser + Eriksson. I'd much rather give them Wood, or the 5mil cheaper open than Boeser for the next 2 seasons.. Boqvist, who I think can be a 50pt winger and should be ready to take a step towards that this year. Maybe taking Eriksson's contract back will prevent NJ from giving up Palmieri or Gusev? Both need to be re-signed after next season too.. probably costing around 6mil each. Maybe taking Eriksson back will lead to NJ giving Van back their 17th overall pick instead of AZ's likely 10th overall? would be nice. would set NJ up nicely for the future, and they can draft Sanderson 7th overall.

Stop, The Isles aren't a broke franchise anymore, Offering a massive signing bonus wont do much. There is a reason teams don't use the offersheet, 5 1st rd picks. Yes even if you say the player trumps the picks. 1st rd picks are always used to get better at the trade deadline. How do you improve a team that has no future assets to move?

The compensation for losing players to an offer sheet varies depending on the amount offered. The most picks you can lose is 4– 1st rounders for an offer over 10.5 mil per year.

Erickson is 2 years at $6M each in cap hit after this season and $8M in actual cost because his contract was front loaded. Boeser is the opposite. His contract is backloaded so his real salary is higher then his cap hit. The cap hit is $5.875/year but the actual is $ 6.125 and $7.5M.

Just saying if you take both guys you are looking at some real coin and cap space. So I'd give them their 1st back and maybe another prospect or pick but nothing crazy. Without taking Loui there would be more pieces going to Vancouver from NJ.

The move would be to use Boeser to motivate someone to take Eriksson. The return would have to be picks. I don't see any reason we'd want to take on anyone with a significant salary.

That's just GM speak for "I could deal Boeser if the right players or picks were offered. But I'll most likely just keep him. Because all GM's try to get studs for duds." Brian Burke once said "I'm not trading Sergei Fedorov!" He traded him the next day.

Except for the fact that nobody with real credentials has actually reported on this. This rumor was started by one radio host who is known for putting out questionable leaks. Then the next day said the source was himself, since he thought Boeser's 6M cap hit would be a great way to dump cap and still get a pretty good return. People decided to take that run with it, and now EK decides to report they had talks with the Devils, when literally nobody credible has been on that. I'm gonna say this is all bs. It was a nothing rumor to begin with.

It would be informative to recap which player is the HEART + SOUL for each team. I can do the West since you don't watch.

Please give Ek a break here. He doesn't watch Western Conference hockey.
