To St Louis
2020 1st - Islanders
Nilsson

To Ottawa
Allen (cap dump, could be Anderson 2.0?)
Steen (cap dump/veteran presence)
2020 1st - St Louis
2021 1st - St Louis

Keep bringing in the picks Dorion.
Allen could prove to be a sneaky addition in the form of a cap dump by St Louis. Ones team trash is another teams treasure?
Steen is another cap dump that could be resigned if proven to be an invaluable mentor to the young guys. I could see both Steen and Allen being roster plugs for at least the following season.
Dorion and Co. are great with reading goalies.
Pageau trade tree begins with the original first turning into 2020 and 2021 1sts.

St Louis clears roughly 7 million and can try to bring back Pietrangelo with this new found cap space. Could get a great player with the top-23 picks being highly regarded. Nilsson provides a 1B/2A for Binnington at half the cost of Allen.

Dorion gets it done here checking all the boxes. Maximizing asset value? Check. Maximizing cap space? Check. Capitalizing on a team with minimal cap space due to stagnant cap? Check. Increasing veteran presence for the young bucks? Check. Increasing draft pick stockpile? (frank) yeah.

I want to see where the isles pick and blues end up this year.

Could be trading the 15th for two picks in the high 20s, while taking on cap considerations.

I'm not a fan of the 2D logo. I would prefer going to the "O" or staying with the current logo.

The Sens are in a good place right now and they're not contenders next year. They have the luxury of waiting for the prospects. I think that with the the amount of kids they have in the system they'll be able to fill all their future needs. As far as the logo goes I like the O.

Yes but what if the Isles place higher than the Blues? We can assume that 2021 could be a good year for the Blues but what if the loss of Pietrangelo and maybe an injury or two turns that pick into a lottery pick?
I think the trade off of NHL roster players and veteran leadership/mentor, an upgrade in net - depending on your personal bias, turning one first into two firsts and capitalizing on the position that cup contending teams find themselves in with their cap space - or lack thereof, is well worth it.
I’m equally excited to see where the Isles pick ends up but the uncertainty has a certain value that could make Armstrong intrigued. Perhaps adding Barbashev, Kostin or some other young player could be done as well?
The cap space taken on in this trade is gone after the 2020-21 season as Allen and Steen are FA’s.

To me Ottawa is being far too generous in this proposal. They are likely moving BACK in this years draft, taking two bad contracts from St. Louis and only getting a likely 20-30 pick in next years draft in return. All of this would basically allow St. Louis to keep Pieterangelo, so you can almost add that in to St. Louis' return.

A comparable to how this should be structured would be the Marleau trade last year. TML gave up their 1st and 7th to shed the contract of Marleau, and got a 6th in return.

Ottawa should not be giving up their first in this trade. Taking St. Louis' 1st this year with Steen and Allen for a 7th is more reasonable, if they could get next year's first or a decent prospect as well, even better. St. Louis is not in a good bargaining position.

Hmmm. I can see where you are coming from.
Allen could be a serviceable replacement and give Ottawa a year to see what he is. I don’t see that as a cap dump primarily.
Steen is 36 and only has one more year at 5.25M to which I still could see him as a bottom-6 roster player, a great influence on the young bucks on the ice and as a professional outside of the rink.
You could decipher this as a cap dump. The main difference I think between Marleau and Steen+Allen is that Toronto should have just bought Marleau out themselves and used their 1st to continue adding young pieces to their young core. To this day I believe Carolina got a very lopsided trade taking on Marleau and essentially getting a very high draft pick in an extremely deep draft.
St Louis has been trading and extending top-4 defensemen in an attempt to replace what Pietrangelo brought to the table. Essentially Armstrong has accepted that Alex wants to flex his UFA rights and doesn’t want to stay in St Louis.

I will say this - before I posted the offer I figured that a 2020 or 2021 3rd would be added to make things fair, however, took it away as I realized that both players being acquired were one year away from free agency.
My revised offer would be this;

To Ottawa
Steen
Allen
2020 1st - STL
2021 1st - STL
Kostin

To St Louis
Nilsson
2020 1st - NYI

Going back to the 2D Logo is great, it brings back competitiveness, grit and a powerhouse memory of what the Ottawa senators should represent. we are missing that, and have been with our tails between our legs as a noncompetitive team, so i feel this representation of the 2D logo can get that spark back into these players of what we are really about and what we can achieve going forward.

Going back to competitiveness, grit and a powerhouse that never won us anything?

I'm the complete opposite. I find the 2D logo to be very uninspiring.

I'd rather something new to go along with the new generation and let the new talent build into it's own powerhouse moving forward
