Montreal deserves the Primetime slot... Should be like this during the regular season too... 🐧 being the opposition really helps... |

So, the Pens/Flyers rivalry isn't what it once was, mostly because the top villains (sans Crosby) like Hartnell, Neal, Simmonds, etc. aren't there any more. But I do ask what's going to happen when someone, in some game, pulls some cheap poop.
Take for instance Brad Marchand. This guy cannot go more than a few games without low bridging a guy or throwing a flying elbow. I've heard that these playoffs will not allow fighting. So when he does this and doesn't get called, the attitude has to be "ho-hum, maybe they'll call it next time?"
To be clear, I'm not all for staged goon fights. But if a guy pulls some dirty, cheap stuff like Marchand is known to do, there has to be a physical response. |

I agree.
Where did you hear no fighting? Did it also mention the punishment for it if it occurs?
I never thought about any of this until I saw your response here. Wonder how suspensions will be handled...

I haven't specifically heard "no fighting" but it was one of the precautions listed when the whole RTP discussion started. |

It would be easier to transmit a virus by breathing next to someone for a few seconds in a board battle than by someone touching your face for a half-second a few times. |

If they can move Bjugstad and/or JJ, then they can probably wiggle both Jarry and Murray with a bridge deal for both. - Rinosaur
Basically if they can't fit Murray, they can't fit Marino next year. So they can fit Murray. Might not be the best move for next year, but with no cap raise and everyone trying to shed salary they better have a plan for that because they can't repeat with Marino what happened with Pettersson and just hope someone takes a guy like Anaheim did with Gudbranson to get out of it.
So when setting next year's roster, plan a way to lose at least 5M. More if Blueger and ZAR get raises and you want to keep them. |

So you're talking about the 21/22 season...
Look, I stated in the last thread it's not feasible to keep both Murray and Jarry. I was giving a bit of an extreme scenario as a means to keeping both, but I don't recommend it even if they did get both Bjug and JJ off the books.
IMO, you move Murray when this season officially ends, give Jarry a 3yr/$3M(give or take a few dollars) and bring DeSmith up. You'll BASICALLY get wash financially in the goaltending department.
Next I would move Bjugstad and try to sign Toffoli.
Once the 20/21 season ends then I would be trying either to bribe Seattle to take JJ or find a way to move him even if it means retaining salary and you use that money to shore up the RFAs. . |

You need to move more than JJ to sign Marino. And you have to out-bribe the other teams trying to dump salary on Seattle. If you can guarantee Seattle takes Hornqvist, that works.
I really like Toffoli and think he'd be a good fit here, but I wouldn't want to jam up next to the cap to get him. That's why we'll differ: you ultimately want to squeeze in another big long-term salary.
There needs to be some flexibility with a flat cap. Doesn't have to mean keeping Murray on a 1 year arbitration deal, but I wouldn't rule it out and it might actually be the best option. |

More than JJ. Probably more than Pettersson, at least should be. I'd say budget at least 5M. I also want to keep Blueger and ZAR if the raises are reasonable and they repeat this year's performance. |

I would assume potentially a Maatta type extension. 4-5 Million for multiple years just with the cap potentially being flat and players potentially not getting as much money as previous years |

Haha great minds think alike! Also I agree with keeping Blueger and ZAR. I think that line needs to continue to be intact. Hopefully it continues to be our great shut down line for many years down the road.

Old news, sorry, but looking at the roster list, is it safe to assume that the WB/S folks are the ones being held out (for precaution) for secondary exposure? |
