I have no problem with trading Sam Boss, you know my feelings on Rhino, I have posted them many times. But unless you are bringing in a better player it doesn't make any sense. This team can't afford to lose good players. - Buff36
They cant afford to overpay more wingers, as skinner has that covered and then some.
Theres an internal and league salary cap.
Money needs to be allotted accordingly, maybe for 2c?
Keep sam cheap , sure why not?

tucker 345 games
116 goals
154 helpers
reinhart 400 games
109 goals
146 helpers
they scored more in tucker's era
tucker took a back seat to foligno or dave
reinhart takes a back seat to eichel
both guys not afraid to take a penalty for a team mate
I am fine with my answer |

Fair enough, but isnt sam a "core" guy a few of you want to build around.
There more responsiblity for core guys making big $.
Would you call eichel a "winner" ? - Boss34
This team sucks, we have 4 players who can score. You need at least two lines, which we cannot ice at the moment. This isnt the NBA where one player can completely take over a game night after night. |

I love the optimism of some posters on this forum but why the fudge would Tampa trade Cirelli or Vancouver trade Boesner to the Sabres? Cap issues or no cap issues for these teams, they are going to hold onto their young, talented players. The only way we would get any of these young studs is if we pay way over market.
The Blues stealing ROR for parts is a once-in-a-decade trade. Based on Pegula's comments at Adams presser where he spoke about "efficency" etc, I think we need to lower expectations. Younger guys on low value contracts will make the team and trades for marginal upgrades are likely. I love seeing these killer line-ups that some are posting on here where we get stud young guy "X" for marginal Sabres player "Y" + pick, but it ain't happening.
Stop fantasizing about Cirelli or Point from Tampa. Start thinking about Tage in your top 9 instead. That's our reality. |

I saw someone suggest putting Tage on Eichel's wing. I love this idea

Bring me Pat Maroon. Let's just remake the early 10s Ducks |

Maroon-Eichel-Tage line could be Maroon-Getzlaf-Perry lite |

Good comparison
2nd round pick not 2nd overall
Liked john tucker. Had a " top guns" poster with foligno and slow dave, standing by a fighter jet

I remember watching Maroon control the play behind the net and feed the puck to Getz and Perry night after night.

Maroon is actually a decent hockey player, not just a tough guy. Seems like a cheap, easy plug in for girgs or vesey or frolic or Johansson or simmons or lazar or tage or Casey |

Pommer 81 games played
21 goals 30 assist in the nhl playoffs = 51 points
10 points as a 23 year old rookie
4 game winners
Sam 0 games played
0 goals 0 assists in the nhl playoffs = 0 points
0 points as a 23 year old
0 game winners - Boss34
LOL now the kid sucks because he's never been on a playoff team?
You really are the worst poster on here. No wonder you're treated with such disdain. |

The way I read those stats is a nod to Pommer. Guy was clutch in the playoffs at a young age. We haven't seen Reinhart in the playoffs yet, so we shouldn't chalk him up as good or bad in that category until we see it.
I think trading Sam would be a mistake. But so would giving him a massive deal. |
