I would take Patrick ..
And the flyers won the lottery we had to tank - gerbe75pts
I would too. I read an article saying the Flyers shouldn't qualify him because his salary would be too high. As for how they got him, he was still picked 2nd overall. Things could be worse than Reinhart |

The Drasaitl shoulda picked him debate is tired as (frank).
No kidding. We missed. So did Calgary and Florida. Christ, we complain for some reason about Reinhart, they have (frank)ing Bennett. Jesus. - TheSabresTaco
Correct, Drasaitl is, in restrospect, obviously the #1 player from the draft but NOBODY had him rated as the #2 player pre-draft. He was always 4 or 5. At #2 the debate was Reinhart and his intelligence vs. Bennett and his agressiveness |

Would've taken massive cashews to take Draisaitl #2 overall. Marcel Goc and Jochen Hecht were the best forwards coming out of Germany at that point. Too bad. Don't think Draisaitl is as good on Sabres as he is on Oilers, but probably more impactful than Reinhart. Reinhart is good, but I do understand why his play annoys some of the posters on here. After the one world jr. it was looking like the Sabres nailed the pick. |

Shouldn't some professional scouts have seen that Reinhart would not pan out as a center due to his skating and for whatever reasons he hasn't worked out there?
There were a lot of reasons I didn't want him and I wish I knew more about Leon but I just didn't.
Maybe there should be more formal training on how to scout instead of just hey, you retired? Want a scouting job? |

We picked a center who couldn't play center and moved him to wing and when you have to project him to 70 pts at season number 6 when he has had one 60 pt season that is like you are talking like he is still a rookie. We have given him everything to succeed so far to get those 70 pts, line 1, franchise center, PP, and he hasn't reached it yet. If he ever goes to line 2 he'll never get close to it, he'll stick to 45-50ts. - GilPerreault11
You can't say that, he might he might not he is only 24. I guess I could say the same thing about ROR, his points fluctuated every year, but he finally hit the 70pt mark when he was 28. Who knows how many points Rhino could get with Eichel if we had a better team and you couldn't just throw everything at 1 line to stop a team. |

Sticking with the Sam topic to get the most value out of his upcoming cap hit they should also give him PK time as well.

You really are a step ahead of nolan, bylsma, Phil housley and coach Ralph.
Probably a speed and effort deficiency for sam to play pk.

Tim Connolly could skate, had quickness and keep up to defend which is important when there are only 4 players defending 5 |

I agree, especially because our PK was terrible. Krueger should have given him a shot |

Connolly wasn't the greatest skater, he was good with his stick. And he had to learn to kill penalties, and he finished only 3 years as a plus player, and 2 he only played partial seasons cause he was hurt. |
