Juolevi....one of the worst draft picks in Canucks history

Jason Herter
Dan Woodley
Alex Stojanov
Olli Juolevi

- Pacificgem

Except that Pat Quinn turned Stojanov into Naslund. Can Benning turn Juolevi into Barzal?

Pretty much!

Tanev, Myers, and someone else on the right. I'm saying Rafferty. He's 25, so not exactly a kid, and played extremely well last year in the AHL after four years of college.

But no to Barrie. He'll cost too much for a team already struggling with roster decisions.

We don’t want a F hidden on D lol

Virtanen had 18 goals, had the season not been stopped he surely would've gotten to 20, that's about a 3.0 to 3.5 million dollar salary...which he probably deserves.

I wanted to add Gaunce, but did not want to upset the Gaunce crowd

There's a Gaunce crowd?

Juolevi is one of the Canucks highest picks in their history, higher than anyone on my list or anyone you mentioned. He may yet turn into a serviceable defenseman but he was a poor pick for 5th overall.
- Pacificgem

Not disagreeing with you. That draft I wanted a defenseman, the guy I wanted, ended up in Nashville.
I was told by many, that you can't take him at #5.

Oh well, now I just laugh when people complain about the Juolevi pick.

I grew up on the island and love NomeansNo myself.
But also went to Vancouver for most shows and lived there after school.
I think snfu was from Edmonton originally and later based in Vancouver.

I remember seeing them at the New York theatre down by commercial and Hastings

It's not an impressive list. Virtanen might get added, we'll see.
- Marwood

I’m still waiting for Cole Cassels to turn that corner. Any. Moment. Now.

He's the ultimate specialist. Only to be played if the Canucks meet the Oilers in the playoffs.

I can see what you're saying for sure but I expect as always the guys that take the biggest hit when salary is either frozen or reduced is the RFA's. I like the kid and would have been happy to see him at 3 x 3 but think he will be more than likely a 1 or 2 year deal at 1.8-2. Stecher is going to be around 2.5 on a one year unless another team likes him enough to give term.

So much hype about him from this market and it resulted in zilch. That’s why I don’t get too excited about any of our prospects until they play an actual nhl regular season game. IMO, it’s a waste of energy to do otherwise.

Really? After that one preseason game against McJesus where fans said Cole “shut McDavid down” there was a lot of excitement. It wasn’t true but for whatever reason this market had him as a Canuck young star.
