Such a stupid penalty. It in no way helped him nor did he mean to do it. Glad he won though seems like a good guy. - IndianaSabresFan
he is probably my favorite golfer
my guess is he never saw it as he was looking at the pin during his pre shot routine

You mean having a 4 of Jack, Skins, Sam and Oposo at say $32m isn't optimal value for their combined 170 pts, and on pace for 202 over 82 games isn't optimal? Take Jack's 78/93 out of that, and wow, just wow! 3 guys making $22m delivering just 109 points over 82; that's 36 points apiece...3 3rd liners making 1st line dinero. - IonSabres
MacKinnon making $6.3M for the next 3 years is a pretty big deal. Cale Makar with a year left on his ELC is a big deal. Makar alone will make all that space evaporate. The Blue Jackets had to let their two best players go because they couldn't afford them. My point is in order to be competitive, aside from 2 outliers with woefully unrealistic scenarios, you need to spend very near the cap. |

spend wisely
blue jackets after losing those 2 have 9 guys over 4 mil
plus still paying hartnell for another 11 months
and now they have to find room to pay Josh Anderson and Pierre-Luc Dubois |

Here is my deep thinking and common sense: Sam is going to be asking for money that game-changers get, he is not a game-changer, that is why it is not hard to predict to read the tea leaves that with the budget cut, continual losing, their cleansing of 20+ admin and scouts that says it is going to be a very busy offseason and it won't only be fringe players involved. - GilPerreault11
Is $7mil “game changer” $$$ anymore?
That’s more like in the $10mil range now
And who cares if the cuts come from Sam, Risto, MoJo, Hutton, Miller, Montour... whoever...
The point is that IF they even do wanna cut salary, which they haven’t said yet...
that it doesn’t HAVE to be Sam
It could be any combo of a variety of players

Borgen on 3rd?
1st - DeMelo
2nd - Joker
3rd - Miller
Not sure where that assumption is coming from - IonSabres
U missed the point of what we were discussing
It was about whether or not Borgen should be in the nightly lineup
Pay particular attn to the bold part of my post
u commented on:
If we trade 2 RH guys & put Borgen in the lineup,
then the only guy we have in Rochester who MIGHT be ok to bring up for injuries is Bryson
Even if Borgen is “ready”
It’s just dumb to thin our defensive depth
- jdfitz77
It seems like all u saw was the trade 2 defensemen part & not the “put Borgen in the lineup part”
If we can trade Montour & Risto and then bring in DeMelo, then fine
That keeps Borgen as a callup, so we won’t be thin when injury happens
But i really don’t think we are gonna be able to bring in a quality UFA like that |

He will soon ge part of the problem at, or about $7m though.
Need more from a $7m player than the total package he brings to the table. |

The problem is really Okposo’s salary and somewhat Skinners. Both of these contracts are hurting the team as they didn’t work out as intended. On the open market Reinhart is around the 7 to 8 mil mark for 5 years but the problem lies what he brings to the table vs what they need. The Sabres need a 2c to ignite more production from Skinner and they need Okposo’s deal gone. Both of those issues and how they are solved will determine whether or not Sam is signed or traded. |

long term that second line center should come from cozens, casey or pick 8
the problem isn't reinhart but rather impatient owners that flip every 2 or 3 years from rebuild to win now which really f@cks up the pipeline and roster construction |

Sure. I get that, but would also say Skinner's $9m contract is problematic unless he is putting up 80 points, or 50 goals. I get why he was signed, but no deny that it is problematic...so yes, he needs a Center to minimize how bad that contract is.
Okposo isn't going anywhere, his contract buyout doesn't really help the team significantly. Their best hope is to offer an asset for Seattle to take him.
So, don't expect "help" with those two issues. |

Yes I agree he isn’t a problem but his next contract is a problem based on bad decisions made in earlier years. You are right they jump around with very little thought process or a plan.
Adams has to come out and say what the plan will be for the next 3 years at least and stick by it. If the importance now is to make the playoffs next year for I would say fine but don’t throw away picks or prospects. Cast offs or 1 year UFA’s and play the kids is the best way to proceed. Any plunge would be next year at the trade deadline. This would help with the Seattle draft also to expose some players |

the bigger issue with skinner
he signs long term for the money, and then the coach drops him down to 2nd or 3rd line
it's like if the bills signed josh allen to a 40 mil a year contract and then draft and start a rookie qb |

I get why he did it initially.
The bigger problem was a stubborn GM who couldn't pull the trigger on s trade for a 2C to get him or Olo cruising towards 60 pts minimum. |

I still say if casey or cozens was your second line center playing with either skinner or olofsson on the lw and johansson on the right wing, we would have been fine
they got a mini win streak with a second line of skinner, johansson and sobotka and decided it was sustainable, which clearly it was not |

They should go full Billy Beane on this one, especially where the organization is currently at. Target a trade for 2 players and picks totaling $7-$8M who not only as a combination bring more points, but leadership, penalty killing, etc. Its the best return you’ll ever get for him most likely, because once he signs for $7M/per it will be tough to unload him if that time ever came. |

There's a reason rinehart has "mixed reviews " from the hockeybuzz fan base.
Sometimes when people tell you something, there is a definitive reason.
Sam is not a core NHL player on the Sabres.
Aside from the points, please explain the must sign attitude around here
