That's why I think Skinner isn't on line 1, I don't think Jack wanted him there. |

Ok, but Blues are a deep team that spreads its scoring out.
Blues had 11 players with double digit goal totals (Sabres had 5), and yeah, Sam would've been up there. But is he getting the same ice time on that Blues team as he does here? No way.
Again, I don't mind the player, but if he's part of a deal to make this team better, I'm all for it. - Powerslave
Looking at their roster from last season, I think he does get the same ice time because he was better than any winger on that team not named Tarasenko.
I think 99% of people on here would trade Sam if the deal made the team better. I think the likelihood that such a deal exists is very, very low. |

who fills the hole at RW
we have no prospects other then tage
the two people talk about, boeser and anderson , both often injured
the one guy I like, smith, is old so not a long term fix
moving johansson to rw is not a long term fix
if you flip olofsson to rw, and bump skinner up, it's the only two proven wingers we have, and olofsson has done it for 54 games and both skinner and olofsson get dinged up on a regular basis - homiedclown
Just because *this board talks about Anderson and Boeser doesn't mean they're the only players available.
If you can picture Sam Reinhart hoisting the cup on this team (for, what's he going to make, $7 million a year? Lol) then you keep him.

And you love him
And now you bring the country divide into the Sam debate? Oh my, I didn't know we were escalating Sam to that level. He better get a very big and long contract then. - GilPerreault11
never once did I say I love him
I defend him, because he has been dogged on this board for 5 years
not one of you guys that think I love him, have ever asked what I think of him
I will spell it out for you slowly
1. he has great chemistry with jack
2. he does not get hurt
3. he is steady not flashy
4. he will never be a rick martin, a mogilny or a gare
5. he will probably never be an all star
6. he will be in the top 60 for scoring every year for the next 7 years in the nhl
he is what he is, which happens to be our best winger by a mile, the last 5 years and as a team that struggles to get points, probably the one player jack likes to play with
you need a few guys on this team that you can depend on for 20-25 goals every year
he is a lot like steve larmer in a era that doesn't score a lot of goals
he is steady, not flashy but at the end of the year you can count on him to get a good chunk of points |

There are other RW in the league who will make less than 7 million that teams will offer in other deals, FA especially with budgets declining. Just sit tight and see if they get someone who gets them out of the bottom 5 of the league because the team stacked with Sam hasn't

you are correct
and for the last 5 years, reinhart has been one of the best value contracts in the nhl
winning franchises reward players for sticking around with a little extra on the back end, just like well run non sports companies
if kym wants to keep reinhart, he will stay
if she wants him gone, he gone
just like ror
just like evander
just like risto staying
etc
etc |

Either way, I'm good.
Sick of the same ol' loser "core" anyway. Like another poster said a few minutes ago, sometimes you have to reshuffle the deck. |

If he brings in a player that helps this team, trade him, if you can't get what you think is fair for him, keep him. But if you want him gone because you think he is going to get 7 or 8mill, have to see, personally I don't think he gets more then 6 to 6.5mill. |

I think his game got better without Skinner, Skinner is a volume shooter, he really isn't a great passer. Olofsson just seemed to fit Eichel better. I probably am wrong, but Eichel got better without Skinner. |

The advanced stats showed the first line this year was actually not as good as the first line last year.
The biggest difference was Eichel shooting like god this year compared to his entire career to that point. |

He’s also a quality shooter.
He led the team in shot quality this year despite his centers.
There’s a reason he scored 40 with Eichel and guys like Evander Kane couldn’t stay on his line for more than 10 games at a time |

And possibly Eichel’s shooting percentage went up due to the fact that he was possessing the puck longer in the O-zone instead of consistently looking to pass off to Skinner.
Eichel shot 4% through 25 games last year and everyone was losing their minds even debating if he was a $10M a year player.

Yes I have seen the stats too, I just think Eichel wouldn't even had the chance to shoot like he was, cause Skinner would have been taking those opportunities away. Like I said probably wrong, but Eichel just seemed to hit another level. |

Not saying he isn't 24, but he also takes opportunities away from his linemates, instead of taking a shot sometimes you should be looking to make that pass, and he has a tendency not to do that. |

I think the new level was due mostly because of his improved play in his own end
leading to break outs, as well as the improvement in his back checking
before this past season he was a top 8 scoring center, now he is a top 5 all around center
before he was a one dimensional center, now a complete center
does changing olofsson from skinner help, no clue
does a full year of reinhart on his wing help, no clue
this is the Jack I envisioned when we drafted him |

That's not totally true, we don't know that with a shortened season. Last year with Eichel and Skinner and there wingers give or take that line scored 9o to 94 goals. This year with Eichel it was 75 in 69 games and Olofsson only played 54, it would have been very close. I just think Eichel has a lot more say in who he plays with then we all think. |

I also envision Olofsson taking a step forward as well in his second season.
I would like to see Cozens on the opposite side of Skinner and for us to address the 2C role and I think that in itself would go a long way.
Mojo-Larsson-Kahun would be a really strong third line that can take the defensive zone matchups leaving a more o-zone starts for Skinner and Cozens |
