No thank you. Johansson and .894 save percentage did not look ready last season.

He didn't look like an NHL goalie. He's a depth guy that you hope you aren't forced to use, not someone competing for the backup job.

Most if not all teams want 500 out of their backup and rely on their number one to make the big point production
Example. Same season stats next hear for Hutton. 12-14-4. 30 games and 28 points.
Ullmark would play 52 games as number one and need to win 32 minimum for 64 points and team combined total of 92 or better to make the playoffs.
Who would you say has the opportunity to make the biggest difference. If Ullmark is the man the playoffs will be there for the taking.
More secondary scoring is the main concern and if not looked after expect more of the same

- Camel

Hutton was brought in to be the starter last year, and he lost 25 out of his 48 starts. We were hoping Ullmark would take over the reigns this year, but with injuries he played in 34 games this year and Hutton played 31, again losing more then he won. Scoring is a problem, but so is Hutton.

Tell me this. If you were the GM and were setting your priorities would you fix backup goaltending or secondary scoring in your plan first.
In my opinion Adams is working on secondary scoring as his main priority. His second fix will be goaltending. If he isn’t confident in either goalie he will bring in a number one and then decide who makes more sense as a backup. Never know it could be Holtby and Hutton. 2H. Pencil them in.

That means Borgen will be available in the expansion draft and the Sabres will have no idea how can he handle himself in the NHL?
- kingcong39

Not really
I’d fully expect Borgen to get called up when injuries to occur this year
And when injuries do happen...
I’d much rather see Borgen on pair3 with Risto or Montour still here,
than i would Borgen on pair2
And Fitzgerald on pair3
That defense likely gets whooped on

And Botgen is getting exposed in the expansion draft no matter what,
so idk how that’s a factor at all??

Well I hope his priorities are both, because he has the opportunity to do both this offseason. But I get what you are saying and secondary scoring is important.

Georgiev is probably 2 tiers above demko. Not sure what the rangers are going to do with their three goalies. Maybe King will be available?

he played 300 minutes on a bad team

I mean nobody wrote miller off in 03-04 when he had a 5.08 gaa and a .795 save % with 177 minutes

I would trade sam for a top ten pick
- gerbe75pts

How about the 12-15 range? What would need to be added?

Thinking (12-15) plus 8OA , makes some rebuilding teams consider our offer.

Why wouldn’t he?!
Obviously we are protecting Dahlin & Jokiharju
And even if we trade Montour & Risto (which shouldn’t happen)...
then we are gonna bring in at least 1 top4 defenseman
Are we not going to protect that guy??

What scenario do u see where we do protect him?

Do they have 7 forwards worth protecting?

They have more than 4 I’d think,
especially if we are trading Montour & Risto for more help up front

The choices are:
7 forwards & 3 defensemen
or
8 players combined F & D

What’s your protection scenario where we keep him?

I don't think so

Jack
Sam

Does OV even need to be protected?
Kahun
MoJo I guess

I wouldn't protect Skinner in hopes he gets taken or knowing he won't be because of that contract

Definitely gonna be tough to move that contract unless a nice sweetner is involved, but again I think it is only for 1 year. And if they decide to buy him out it's a 5.5mill hit on there cap next year, only leaves them like 12mill with only 16 contracts signed

They either trade Georgiev, or keep 3 goalies imo
Don’t think they push Henrik to waive,
and i doubt he wants to go play 1 season somewhere else

MoJo doesn’t have to be protected bc he’ll be a UFA (*unless we extend him, which i doubt)

Skinner has an NMC though,
so he will have to be automatically protected

Olofsson does as well

So protecting for sure:
Jack, Skinner, Sam, Olofsson
Plus any top6 forwards we trade for this season
39 is saying we should trade BOTH Risto & Montour (i believe) for forward help
So that’s 2 more we’d obviously wanna protect

But even if it’s just 1 top6 guy we bring in,
That still puts us at 5 forwards
And that means we can only protect 3 defensemen

You're really making that comparison? Even if you are, Miller didn't play an NHL game the following season. JJ hasn't played a full AHL season yet. You can't view him as more than depth coming into next season.

no clue

his ahl numbers shows he is as good a goalie prospect as any for next season

so I would not overpay to obtain a young goalie with hutton like numbers, which is my point
