Seems a bit rich to me also.
Kahun, 2 years $2.5
Olofsson, 3 years $3.9
Sam, TRADED

- IonSabres

Seems reasonable, I don't mind trading Sam as long as what ever is coming back helps us win games.

From James Mirle's article on Thd Atlantic regarding possible contraction; he doubts we will see that based on financially weaker teams going the Cap Floor route of $60m-sh in which the cash outlay for players would actually be about $42m-sh due to higher Escrow and the 10% deferment.

Should we get ready to see Smith, Ogolvie, Mitts, Tage, Borgen...?
Can they dump Risto, Sam, Montour, Miller, Mojo and get back picks prospects?

- IonSabres

I can't see all of them dumped, only so many teams can take on cap hits for picks.

Shepard came in with a splash 38 goals as a rookie

52 goals a few years later with detroit

Thru 444 nhl games shepard 208 goals
3rd round pick

817 career games 357 nhl goals

Thru 400 nhl games sambo 109 goals
2nd overall pick

Terrible comparison.
They are about the same size and weight

The Penguins recently did a 30 year anniversary special interview with Ron Francis, Bryan Trottier, and Scottie Bowman about that game 4 and Francis was saying how Jagr was telling everyone on the bench and in the locker room after period 2 how good Hasek was and that he could turn the whole game around. They didn't know much about him then so he was a mystery. Jagr kept saying, "He's the best goalie in the world! I'm telling you!..." I remember seeing the camera showing Mike Keenan on the bench after Belfour gave up a goal yelling "Dominic!...Dominic!..." to put him in the game and I thinking "Man, the Pens chased another goalie and now they have their backup in. This could get ugly." But Hasek was brilliant in that game. He almost won it for them. Like the blogger said, he stopped about four breakaways as well as a 2 on 1 with Lemieux and Stevens. Mike Lange, the Penguins' broadcaster was going nuts making the calls. "HASEK ROBBED HIM AGAIN!!" Makes me wonder what would have happened if Kennan had replaced Belfour in game 2 or 3. He may have stuck with Hasek for the rest of the series and who knows?

I would love to see a Risto and Sam, perhaps another piece for a #2 center and a good winger in his first contract. That would be the blockbuster.

I don't think they will go the tank route as you describe.

Get 2 picks for '21 draft...save Reinhart to package with them to get '21's 1st-*OA

A. Araty - he plays a power game as he attacks into the offensive zone with physicality. If he doesn’t have the puck on the attack, he supports his lineman who does by finding and filling the empty creases in coverage where he provides an outlet for the puck to be sent. It is tough to try and separate the positive qualities… You want to know why he is on top of draft lists? He’s a high paced locomotive who reaches top speed, then makes plays at top speed, as if he is playing at a higher speed than the rest of the ice.

Draft Rossi this year, Raty next year...we should be positioned to win in '23-'24 when Jack is 26/27

Goal conversion factor for different eras.

Played on lines with dominant centers (Turgeon, LaFontaine): check
Fans wanted him ran out of town for being soft: check
Scored all his goals around the net: check
Number 23: check
Literally looked like the exact same player: check
Greatest comparison: check

Looks like it all checks out. Why did Sabres give up on him? I was too young to care about that stuff back then. I was too busy thinking wow, did I seriously hit that ball that far in little league games.

What is happening with our HB blogger...is Ghofrani gone now? Is Gipper a replacement, or is he adding as an alternate blogger.

Curious minds need to know

- IonSabres

Gipper is from Saskatchewan. He is a fellow Flaccovillian and alike myself are not true fans apparently.

I’m not sure how he even got to write on the blog. I’m sure Hatboro is protesting as we speak.

If Jagr was saying he was the best goalie in the world you would think there would have been a bigger market for him when the Sabres traded scubs for him, more scouts would have seen it, GM's, even the Blackhawks pulled a Tom Brady and went with him instead of Belfour and never traded him.

Sam never really put on a lot of meat, he is pretty lean so if we want to go lean he might be a keeper, just saying.

Now all I want to do is go out there and win one for the Gipper! Nice blog, really enjoyed the walk down memory lane. Thank you and we're glad to have you! If Sabres are nothing else, they are fiercely loyal... even through our frustration and disapppointments… it's what binds us.

Yes he did, and played well with him too.

I thought Sam would eventually become ROR's replacement. But they never gave him a solid chance at C.

Actually not to bad, nothing else has worked, but I really don't like Mitts, anyway we can bring in 1 player to take his spot, or atleast resign Kahun.

I like it, saves $20m to put towards the yacht, positions Sabres to challenge Detroit for Raty!
