The Wendy's comment is no different than labelling all Trump supporters as racist and evil. I shared the story of my best friend. He's an entrepreneur in the US with his own construction business. Employs 20-30 people. He's a multi-millionaire. He told me he didn't really like some of Trump's comments. He thinks he's got a huge ego. But at the end of the day, he said he votes for the party that I think will create the best environment for my business to thrive. Trump promised to cut taxes, and eliminate a bunch of red tape and regulations that small businesses are killed by. And Trump delivered exactly that. My buddy has saved tens of thousands of dollars per year just from some of the easier regulations on hiring new employees. It seemed like a pretty logical, rational approach to making a choice in an election.
But Tanner called my friend evil, and a racist. Never met him. But has all kinds of labels. Simply because he made a rational decision.
Intelligent stuff Tanner. Keep it up. - Kooleus
If you put your own pocket book ahead of your morals and vote for an openly white supremacist candidate, that makes you a racist. End of story.
As for the Wendy's thing, it's ironic because you crybabies spend so much time pretending that liberals are being too politically correct, but first chance you get to whine about something being over the line, you act the most offended.
At least the whiny Prius driving liberal babies actually believe in what they complain about.
It is literally racist to support Trump today. If you were not a white supremacist, you would have been disgusted by his racism a long time ago, and therefore you must agree with him. |

This idea that he is an openly white supremacist is your fantasy. There are no facts to support that. However there are facts to support that he has publicly multiple times, condemned white supremacy. He has also labeled white supremacist groups as domestic terrorists. Those are the facts. End of story.

You are so clueless. Nobody is whining about anything. What we have done is turn things around and used your nonsense standards against you. You're a typical far left nut case in that what you accuse others is exactly what you've done. By your and the far left standard, you made a racist statement and are therefore an openly white racist.

Just your baseless opinion that you couldn't possibly support with facts. Figure it out Tanner.
I'll again, publicly challenge you to man up and provide some facts. |

Yeah, wasn't trying to be a Richard, just surprised how close to the cap you guys are. And even with those 2 we still have room to play. - Buff36
I'm just bustin your chops. All good. It was a bit of a low blow on my end to poke any fun at Buffalo. Thats a wild scene over there. At least Hossa's LTIR cap won't count, so they can maintain, minus Hall. If Hall is to be re-signed, more drastic measure's would need to be taken. One of their goalies would have to go, and a tradable guy like Dvorak or Schmaltz to free up some serious cash. After next season, almost all of their contracts are looking to very promising. |

Jimmy Troller's latest.
Middle of the Pack
These teams are OK, they’ve got decent enough rosters but aren’t quite good enough to be true contenders, while at the same time, if they did chance to win the Cup, it wouldn’t really surprise anyone:
Pittsburgh, Washington, Philadelphia, Colorado, St. Louis, Edmonton and Calgary.
The Contenders
Toronto, Boston, Tampa, Vegas and Carolina are the NHL’s best teams. They all have excellent offense, strong defense and good goalies.
But most of all, they are the teams that have the most elite players. The standings go up and down; results are random. Injuries occur.
These five teams are significantly better than there competition. Unfortunately for them, however, in the NHL there isn’t a very large margin between any of the teams.

Any team can win the Cup this year, with the exception of Arz. and MTL, BUT the goalies on those teams can also carry them on their backs, so I guess, their really aren't any exceptions.

I would disagree that Toronto has a strong defense. They lack depth in that area. Their roster is top heavy on the forward side and I think the defense in their Achilles heal. However they have a great offense so they could get hot along with top goaltending and make a run. |

I'm still trying to figure out how St. Louis and Washington are "middle of the pack" while the Leafs are "contenders." Plus the Leafs are apparently "heavily favoured" over Columbus even though they tied in points (81). |

If the standings where an exact guide of how good each team was, there would be no need for analysis at all. |

So what exactly have the Leafs proven to achieve "contender"status? I know what the Blues and Caps have done. I'll agree the Leafs should be favoured to beat Columbus. But where does the "heavily" come from? |

What's the saying? You have to be good to be lucky. And lucky to be good. If you have the best WAR you'll win the Cup. |

Columbus has excellent chance to beat Toronto. Torts had all of his players buying in during season, and even w/ all those injuries they were playing well. They took it to Tampa last year as well in playoffs. Toronto has hardest matchup in 1st round. If Columbus shuts them down for a bit, Toronto will get impatient, take chances, and lose. |

You obviously have not taken into account the standing when doing your analysis.

If standings aren't a guide to which teams are better, then why do teams with better regular season records beat team with worse records at a much higher rate in the playoffs? |

You have to remember, Tanner's analysis is basically to count how many "elite" players you have. All the other guys are interchangeable and should be just making $1M or less. It's all about star talent. He doesn't value faceoffs. He doesn't value blocking shots. He doesn't value coaching or systems or whether guys are galvanized to win as a team or simply a group of individuals looking to impress for their next contract. He likes to think he's an expert, but his analysis is paper thin.
So Toronto has at least 5 or 6 elite players (Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, Rielly, Anderson). That's enough to make them legit contenders. The supporting cast doesn't matter. Systems don't matter. Nothing else matters, well except luck - sometimes. Boston and Tampa and Carolina also have numerous elite guys, so they all get labelled as true contenders. A team like Washington only has 3 or 4 elite players. The fact that they have a superior supporting cast with guys like Oshie, Eller, Wilson, Vrana...well that doesn't matter. In fact, it's a foolish use of cap space to pay guys like this $3-5M because they aren't elite superstars. They really should replace those 4 guys with one more superstar and 3 more guys making $1M. If they did that, well then they would join Toronto as a true contender. The Blues are in that same camp, 3-4 elite players, but not 5-6 like Toronto. The Blues also made the foolish mistake of having a supporting cast made up of Schenn, Perron, Bozak, Sundqvist. Fools. Should trade all those guys and actually add another 1-2 ELITE players instead. Now the fact that St.Louis and Washington won recent Cups with this model is meaningless. That was just luck. To be a true contender you need more ELITE players. Count them up. If you can do that on ONE hand they are just pretenders. If you need TWO hands, well then you have a real contender.
