Here's a question for you HockeyBuzzers out there regarding protecting D in next year's Seattle expansion draft. Carlsson turned pro in 18-19 so he'll have 3 years in next year and be eligible to be selected if not protected. Assuming the Hawks protect 3 D and two of them are 2 and 7 due to their NMC, do you protect Murphy, DeHaan, Maatta or Carlsson as the third? If Carlsson proves himself as an effective 3rd pair D, I would protect him as a cheaper option over the others. I figure Mitchell is Murphy's replacement at RD if he's lost and Beaudin, Krys, Kalynuk and Regula are waiting in the wings to replace the others. - boilermaker100
I believe they will ask Seabrook and/or Keith to waive their NMC for the expansion draft only. Seabrook definitely won't be taken unless a deal is worked out before that is agreeable to the Hawks, Seattle and Seabrook. I do believe they will extend that courtesy to Seabrook after all he has meant to the organization.
Keith will 38 and I doubt he is taken. Again, a deal could be worked out to expose him but Seattle agrees to not take him.
There is no way Maatta and de Haan are even up for consideration of being protected given their ages, contracts, etc. Murphy is even a borderline call. Though, I would protect Murph.
They still are only going to lose one player so I roll the dice and protect the youngest guys. |

I agree with most of this with the caveat that there are still so many variables to be sorted out before the expansion draft that I wouldn't assume anything at this point. Will the league allow any roster, or structure flexibility consider there will be a flat cap for the next 2 years? Injuries, retirement, etc. How viable are professional sports actually going to be in the next couple years (especially if no one will be at the games).

I think we will see fans by next season. I am an optimist, tho. Yes, I am aware certain conditions will need to be met before that happens. However, if the behavior of the population soon after restrictions were lifted is any indication, people will attend sporting events.
Of course they are variables, but for the sake of responding to boiler, i just went with things as they stand now. |

The NHL released information regarding COVID tests. Only 2 players have tested positive for the time between the 13th and 17th. That is out of 2618 tests administered. |

That’s amazing. Compared to college football where like half the SEC has tested positive. |

So hard to say because before the expansion draft is even held, I can see 2 or 3 of those you named not even being on the team either due to all 3 having injury histories, or trade. To me Murohy should bring back the most value ($3.8 mil. plays top 4 minutes and will barely be 30. - LAHawk
Yes who knows what the roster will look like a year from now. Maatta may be bought out andDeHaan reinjured. Have to consider that stipulation about exposing a player who's played in 45 games or 70 games the most recent season or two. As elEbows said Murohy probably has the most trade value. Depending on the situation, maybe he is traded for something rather than losing him in the draft for nothing.

Not really when you consider the demographics of where the players call home. |

Can a player just say I am waiving my No Trade Clause?

Stan can approach Keith, Seabrook, and any of the other NMC players but they can simply decline. It's their right to do so.

I believe this is exactly what they are doing. To be honest it's taking longer than i expected but at the same time i really like all the young talent they have. - BetweenTheDots

So Crow and Murph are the only ones who tested positive? Seems odd. (RF) |

I lose track of time - days begin to run into each other - but weren’t Crawford and Murphy declare “unfit to play” before the 13th?
Maybe not.... |

Who knows why they are absent. In Murphy's case a tweaked muscle, or an injury/concussion suffered in practice, or in his and Cro's case self quarantining for 14 days after exposure to someone with Covid? We'll probably never know. Next man up.

There's a blast from the past. From the days before all kid's toys were plastic. You could carry your metal Tonka trucks and your metal toy cowboy 6-gun around in your metal wagon.
The father of a friend of mine made a fortune producing plastic gadgets and trinkets of all kinds just when the plastic revolution was growing exponentially.

Seabs can waive to be exposed for the EXP draft. the odds of him actually being taken under 1% and he is from the upper NW as well. I hope he does that hawks at least this favor. if they asked and he declined I would just buy him out and deal with the ugly cap hit. |

We'll see, just because a team is built to compete for a SC sure doesn't mean they will win one.

I think many of the "unfit to play" were guys who were waiting for test results or not through with their return isolation. |

Ha, another blast from the past - Marx toys. Unfortunately I lost track of my friend after high school and his dad would be close to 100 by now if he's even still on the green side of the grass.
I think the first plastic toys I got were those little green army guys in different poses of fighting/shooting that my brother and I used to have war battles against each other. They more or less replaced the metal Civil War toy soldiers we had before we got the cool plastic U.S.Army toy soldiers - plus we had dozens of the new plastic soldiers where we had only 10 or 12 of the metal Civil War soldiers so we could have much bigger battles. |
