The "total opposite" of unorthodox is orthodox, and 'orthodox' doesn't describe Sorokins style AT ALL.
Currently, Sorokin depends on his athleticism to recover from the mistakes his unorthodox playing style creates. He is absolutely a bit like Hasek in that regard.
Sorokin will need to conquer a steep learning curve in order to enjoy a long NHL career. - Puckin_Island
My initial point was that comparing anyone to arguably the greatest goaltender to play the game is a little absurd. |

And yet you thought Ho Sang comparing himself to McDavid was apt.
Hypocrite. |

When did I say that?
Did he ever actually say that? I remember him saying he wanted to be the best player in his draft class, which I probably said was fine for him to say. But I don't think I ever said I thought he'd be as good or better than McDavid |

Ho Sang’s song writing abilities evens it out with McDavid IMHO. |

Hasek was totally unique in the way he played. Sorokin is much more technical then Hasek and is very calm in the net compared to Hasek. Obviously the best goalies have and rely on great athleticism when a save is made in desperation.
I think Hasek was one of the greats but not the best imho. |

You didn’t and he didn’t (at least I don’t think he did). I’m just trying to start some poop. |

I wasn’t aware that Ho Sang was musically inclined.

Watch and you'll clearly see what concerns NHL pundits. He play far out of the crease, leaves the 5 hole open when he moves across and has trouble moving back. His athleticism allows him to get back, but watching those top 10 Sorokin saves and you'll see a few of those aren't really saves at all. The shooter misfires and puts the puck right into the goalie rather than the open net. Most NHL players bury those pucks.
If I could trade Sorokin for Shesterkin tomorrow, I would reduce my risk and make the trade.
That said, Sorokin could be even better, but he could also be a bust. |

Roy, Brodeur and Dryden for me are 1,2 and 3 but I wouldn’t blame anyone for taking The Dominator as #1. |

Perhaps I’m a bit jaded as to who the actual “best” truly is. I think we can all agree that Hasek was the most entertaining to watch, and that figures heavily into my decision. |

Entertaining indeed.
He would flip and spin more than a 2 buck hooker taking care of a bachelor party! |

I meant he'll be singing the Blues because no NHL team will sign him.
I hope he does find a home in the NHL.

What NHL pundits are concerned? I haven’t seen one negative scouting report on him |
