A decent 2nd line center won't save them any money, will no doubt cost them more money unless he is in his first contract. A bit surprised you are willing to give up a first, I hope it would be top ten or top eight protected.
I'd only play Cozens at center and on the third line initially and play Thompson on the second. I like some of what I have seen of Thompson. - GilPerreault11
That bottom paragraph works for me too.
I expect Olofsson to take the next step next year and make that a very formidable first line.
I would expect that if we get Skinner a center that can hold his water he will score his 25 goals and Cozens on the other side can get used to the NHL on the wing and possibly even enjoy a Calder finalist type of season.
Mojo and Kahun are proven top 9 forwards and with Thompson could give us one of the better third lines this team has had in years (which isn’t saying much considering the black hole it’s been)
I’m hoping to bring back Larsson for a 3C/4C role but I think Gerbe and Sbroads are right in saying that he’s most likely out the door as he probably wants to be elsewhere which is unfortunate. |

Good morning, by my count there are 23 MLB, NHL, & NBA games today. A UFC event, NASCAR, and a PGA tourney all going on today as well. Busiest August day in American sports history. Enjoy!

overall i loved the product w/o fans...liked the tarp on the seats, the limited piped in noise, the telecast and camera angles...
well done, nhl...well done - Michael Pachla

It won't matter what the 1st line is until they get real middle-6 centers. Just window dressing |

A. The first line was worse this year than last year.
B. You should definitely credit Eichel individually getting better every year of his career so far to Olofsson, and not his natural development
I look forward to some anecdotal response - sbroads24
Jack's stats are well statistical analysis when he played with Skinner as opposed to VO. I look forward to your fanatism toward Jeff Skinner and his 14 goals last year and why he was not wanted by Rod Brind'Amour and they took Pu and picks for him to get the f*ck out. Why his new coach, Ralph, couldn't play him on the first PP, the OT, the first line. I could show you his career ebbs and flows in goals and his average of 20.7 assists per year too. But, tell me how much YOU like him and deserved to be that floater on the first line for Jack? |

I wouldn’t mind Skinner-Eichel-Cozens
However I don’t believe having all your eggs in one basket is beneficial to anyone.
The Sabres paid Skinner $9M to drive his own line. Olofsson should be more of a factor at Even strength in year two making that line one of the best in the NHL.
Get a formidable 2C and give them heavy o-Zone starts and Skinner will get his 25 goals and all will be well. |

The first line scored more with Skinner than with Olofsson. These are simple facts that are easy to look up.
But as predicted thank you for the anecdote.
It will be pleasurable to see Skinner’s shooting % inevitably rebound to normal and have him produce 20+ EV goals and drive a line like he’s done his entire career |

They played 12 or so less games due to COVID and VO missed 15 games so comparing the numbers from a full season to a season that was cut short is ignorant or has an agenda, do you have an agenda? |

Skinner has never been a good PP player.
I speculate the reason why Ralph didn’t like Skinner is because, like Brind’Amour in Carolina, he implemented a defensive structural game and Jeff struggles mightily defensively.
That’s why I think if we get an efficient 2C and give them heavy o-zone starts he’ll be just fine.
I’ve said enough regarding the contract and I won’t open that can of worms again. |

More as in a higher rate
Eichel’s on ice goals for/60
With Olofsson 19/20- 2.84
With Skinner 18/19- 3.76
It’s a large difference
Almost a goal more an hour equates to about 27 more goals for that line over the course of a year |

I agree. That’s why I think they leave the first line untouched.
Hopefully they acquire a 2C and have Cozens flank on the right side with Skinner on the left and give them more o-zone starts.

Yep, all is well in the world and with the Sabres. Just trade Risto and the Sabres will bring it!!
I'm curious why hasn't there been more articles about the signing of Sam in the media? Last year it was Skinner all the time. When Jack's contract was up we read about that, and even going back to before Risto signed his 5+ million contract we read about the need to sign him but Sam? Crickets. |

What were Jack's points last year?
And that stat that you quote beef's up some really marginal players to look better than they are that per 60. It is an inflated stat in my opinion.

Why is per 60 an inflated stat?
It contextualizes production based on ice time. |

Take a look at some 3rd and 4th line players and their per 60 and get back to me. |
