I disagree- look at Risto’s stats last year vs previous years- he went from like a -1000 +\- player to basically zero and put up decent points despite having his PT time slashed and his PP lessened significantly. Ralph benched miller for much of the first half and did look good on the 2nd half but ralph said he was slow to pick up Th e system. Not a ringing endorsement - turbo044
If you want to ignore the advanced stats that show he was just as bad, and in some ways worse, then the previous two seasons, then at least trade him now while his supposed value is at its highest.

It’s fine. His on ice sv% will inevitably go down, people will pretend it’s his new partners fault after they trade Montour, and then say he just needs his.....6th coach to fix him
"It was intentional. It was a filthy, dirty kick to the back of the leg ... He could have ended the man's career."
Paul Maurice on Matthew Tkachuk's hit on Mark Scheifele. - kingcong39
Give me a beak, Maurice ! Reach much ? Just before Tkachuk's skate lifts up, he catches an edge, which actually forces his blade to pop up. If anything, Tkachuk could be faulted for flying in there at a high speed so close to the boards. Perhaps if he wasn't trying to nail Scheifele, it might not have happened, but he's just playing hard at that point. His skate skips up due to high speed and catching an edge - that's all this is. Nothing about the injury was intentional.
But Paul Maurice has to give his guys something to rally about, I guess. Gotta try something, might as well make up lies.

Tkachuk wasn't trying to injure him, but I believe he was doing anything he could to try and get a piece of him because his attempted fly by was about to look incredibly stupid as he was about to hit nothing but air.

Maurice HAD to be in the heat of the moment there. That was not intentional. - Powerslave
oh it gets better
the part after the dot dot dot
"It was intentional. It was a filthy, dirty kick to the back of the leg," Maurice said. "You can't see it on the program feed, but take the blue-line feed and you zoom in. He went after the back of the leg. He could have cut his Achilles. He could have ended the man's career. It's an absolutely filthy, disgusting hit."

And we don't even know the injury yet. Most people are speculating a cut or an Achilles injury (and will they apologize for all the wrong, negative, angry comments towards Tksachuk if it isn't a cut ? I doubt it), but I'm going to guess either a knee or broken bone. Scheifele never grabs his calf or Achilles area ... he does try to hold onto his shin and knee a couple of times, while writhing around in agony.
In any event, this whole thing really sucks for Scheifele. Oh, and Paul Maurice is an idiot.

I've always been surprised that cuts don't happen more often. I mean, ffs, 10 guys are flying around out there at top speed with razor blades on their feet.

I mean as long as you don’t go into the boards blades up like TK did then you’re alright for the most part.

What would the perception of Ralph be if he saw that happened to Eichel and shrugged it off in a post game presser ?
TK was gliding in and had more then enough time to peel off. Heck even if he was skating full speed he would have had time to peel off or stop.
He raised his skate blade and the intent to make contact was 100% there.
I don’t think anyone means to injure someone intently but when you go into someone with a skate blade up it’s usually never a good thing.

Back to 89's comment about Monte as a trade option with Wings, Lighning, or Calgary.
I just don't see what would be reasonable and attractive from the Wings. I don't see them moving any of Larkin, Mantha nor Bertuzzi. Zadina maybe, but in an adjustment to the NA game year he posted 0.50ppg tells me he is part of the future as well.
I just don't know how the Lightning could fit a ~$4m player in with Cirelli, Cernak and Sergachev all requiring a new deal that will already have the Bolts scrambling to jettison older/costly players for futures not additional players. It would surprise me if they traded for him.
Calgary seems like the best option IMO with potential targets, but Sabres would need to add in a package. Would the Flames really make Monahan available though? I would not want Bennett and Sabres don't need him either.
I was hoping that Montour would be used for a RW myself.

i think montour for mantha straight-up would be a good hockey trade

Alex Tuch and the rights to Chandler Stephenson
for Montour and Asplund

If he’s dealt to the Lightning I could see a return like Johnson/Gourde and Paquette. They can still shed salary in acquiring Montour however not that much. They would have to make additional deals afterwords to become compliant.
I think the Flames are our best bet tbh. If we could get Manigapane and Jankowski for Montour and a Cj Smith/Rasmus Asplund id be all over that.

I would love to see Mantha here, I just don't see Detroit moving him, and believe it would cost more than just Montour...but that is me.
Would live to see it.
