Only one way to find out. Cut the cord with all the minute hogs who have been here since Teddy Nolan - offense and defense.
Play the kids. The worst that can happen is we suck again, but maybe we'll suck in a new and fun way - jcragcrumple
that's fine, but it may not be the best for borgen |

i'd rather see them spend then go with an internal cap...what they spend it on is another story - Michael Pachla
I think they should spend as the team and players merit and increase the cap exponentially as the team and players actually merit and not the other way around.

I think Borgen is a perfect 6/7. If we are expecting more than that we’ll be disappointed. He won’t bring much offence at all but he is physical and defends the blue line well. Can essentially bring what Risto does at 1/5th the cost. - Pegullaville
Works for me. I want Dahlin and joker playing top pair minutes. Keep one of Miller or montour for the second pair to go with McCabe. Borgen and whatever for the bottom pair.
Trade Risto and either Montour/Miller. Get a friggin center |

Totally agree. Scared money don't make money, or something along those lines when it comes to keeping Ristolainen and expecting a different result. |

3 years of college and 2 full years in the AHL. He would have been in line to get NHL games this past year if it weren’t for the over abundance of d-men we had. |

i get the age thing, but development is most important...what it will come down to is whether it's better for him to get top-pairing minutes in the ahl or a bottom-pairing/reserve role in buffalo...
am thinking the plan for this year was to have him play mostly in the ahl with significant games in buffalo...in addition, the powers that be want less money spent in rochester as way too much was spent down there on expensive vets who didn't get the results they were getting paid for...
borgen is on a two-way deal paying $70k and at the end of this year will be a rfa...will that come into play?...it will in some way |

I see it differently
Trade Montour and Risto, retain Miller.
But trading 2 of the 3 is more the point. |

I think he still needs to be playing regularly, so I wouldn't keep him as a 7. I don't think he's making this team, outside of injuries. He's still waiver exempt, so he's ideal depth.
Injuries will happen and he'll get his shot.

That's probably his ceiling anyway. I dont see the need to continue to slow play it at draft +5
Is your preference to keep all 3 of Risto, Montour and Miller? I dont see how that's helpful at all |

I agree with the above, but people seem to get triggered when you say trade Montour and Ristolainen. |

I like Dahlin and Joker but it will be interesting to see them be the #1 D unit like some wish and see them play 22+ minutes a game, play against the top players of other teams and load the #1 PK minutes because many of you have more confidence in their defensive acumen, especially Dahlin, then I do. |

nope...one of risto or montour should be gone...miller got off to a slow start and was benched but he got better as the year went on...

I’m assuming we’ll lose Miller in the expansion draft. Unless we leave Mitts exposed and they decide to take a chance on his potential.

trading them is fine...but who are you replacing them with?
and..."we've sucked with them so it can't be any worse" doesn't count |

Right, so maybe better to see what he has at the NHL level then lose him without knowing, unless you believe he is nothing as an NHL player, which means you don't care if Seattle drafts him. |

Why not? Especially in Risto's case I think we all know exactly what you're going to get. It's like sticking with a mediocre QB because you're afraid the alternative could be worse |
