Any NFL players that opt out this year will owe their stipends back to the team next year. No free money.

Hmmm, interesting.
Congress should consider that for the stimulus...payback over 2 - 3 years.
Oh, and for all members of Congress...payback this years paycheck for virtually doing absolutely nothing. Imagine what a gesture that would be.

A young team with 1 good center giving up that one good center and not getting one in return? Interesting.
- TheSabresTaco

Agreed, it would probably take the 8OA and 2021-1st as well.
...but that wasn't the trade presented.

That's a good move ... keep him playing.
I forget about him, will be interesting to see him in camp

- IonSabres

Doubt he's a guy to get excited about, but it's cheap bottom six that could be a nice piece. Hope he's good for 30-40 points when he joins the team.

From a Buffalo standpoint, take my (frank)ing money. Vice versa from Detroit.

What's the riddle for today Kong?
Good stuff last night with Sam trades.

I was thinking of the Sam + Joker for Larkin deal last night.
I'd really hate to lose Joker, so I'd try nearly everything else before ultimately giving in.

Eichel, Larkin, Cozens down the middle would be unrivaled.
In terms of filling holes:
- at Forward
* 2020-8OA should help although we likely wait another year, Mojo fills that slot for now
* trade of Risto should bring in a decent RW
* probably go UFA route for another RW, or use Kahun there

- at Defense
* Montour and Miller should be ok for 2nd & 3rd pairing
* UFA route for 1st RhD and 2nd LhD

Perhaps with Larkin in the fold and RW from Risto trade, UFA's woul look at the core as very young and very talented increasing the odds of signing here. Solidifying that 1RhD in UFA would become paramount...how many teams could offer a 1st pairing role next to a very young high-end partner?

It’s nice to dream.

I just can’t see Detroit giving up Larkin, seems counter productive.

How long do you think Detroit is away from contending or being a playoff team. Is it beneficial for them to get more pieces know to fill the puzzle or wait 2 to 4yrs.

grow up.
- TheHank

literally can't have a conversation with the guy

a fringe 20 goal scorer, should be on a bad pp unit's second team

the guy can kill penalties, so should be on second pk unit as he makes them better

typical third liner plays 12 to 13 minutes a night 5 on 5

3 days later, he still doesn't get it

I just don’t see Larkin as a viable candidate. I just can’t see Detroit moving him. It’s certainly fun to think about. But I just don’t see it happening. You’ll see Cerelli moved before Larkin.

I would be excited about a 3rd liner puting up those points!
Especially on this team after the last 9 years.

I think the chance either are moved are quite slim.

As crazy as this sounds I’d move Stammer before moving Cirelli if I were Tampa.

I dont buy the "raw deal" vesey narrative. He went 20 games without a goal to start the season, so he's supposed to play more? Botterill's whole shtick regarding Vesey was that he's a 5-on-5 producer. Plus our PK sucked with him. Good riddance to Vesey for the second time. He was a pointless addition

They are another team that could take advantage of the cap situation of other teams.

I would as well TBH, pending this years Play Off performance.
If he scraps by, bye bye.

The contract their starting goaltender has is not helping their cap issues at all.

I believe it would take Cozens, the 8th overall, and Jokiharju to get Detroit to not hang up the phone when inquiring about Larkin.

They'd have to clearly win the trade to even be interested.

I’m optimistic that Cozens will be as good as a Dylan Larkin so I’d prefer to keep the younger more inexpensive option.

Although with Larkin you are getting a player that definitely helps more in the short term

and assuming 2020-21 is a short season, dylan larkin becomes UFA after about 200 games if we traded for him

That might look ok the first season, but it's long term death. Makes sense from Det's side.

I'm not advocating for that move at all. I'm only bringing up what Detroit would need on their end to even consider it.

TW "undecided" if he'll play this year.

That would be a huge loss.

Ya, wouldn't do it either.
As mentioned by others, I think Cozens becomes stud.

It would be nice to get a vet as a transitional piece for 2 years at 2C to allow Cozens to fully bake.

Slim pickings though.
