Why wouldnt the isles just play in Bridgeport instead of Albany, its their AHL area and much closer to Long Island than Albany, also a ferry from Long Island would drop you off right by the arena in Bridgeport?
I still assume they will get a deal in place with Nassau Coliseum.

Boston has 18 players on roster signed thru next year. 18 mil to sign 4/5 more. RFA’s Grzelcyk and Bjork won’t cost much. DeBrusk doesn’t have arbitration rights. I see him getting either 1 or 2 years for maybe 3.5-4m tops. Chara possibly retires if they win cup. If he don’t, he comes back on same deal, 2m...So, IMO, those 4 aren’t getting more than 10 all together. That leaves 8 mil for Krug, who I think could come in less.

Yeah you are probably right that Krug stays in Boston. That's my bet too. But don't worry...lots of sources are saying that Cody Ceci will be the consolation prize. Not Vatanen. Not Brodie. Not Barrie. Anyone who misses out on Krug will look to Cody Ceci. Put that down as like an E4.75

I came to the realization that the Buzztron has actual feelings. I also spent considerable effort trying to get a refund for my LA Kings jersey with "King Alex" on the nameplate. In the end I kept it and have become a big Alex Iafallo fan.

Easy said but how? I don’t see it.

With their current cap expenditure for next season. The Leafs are looking at $54M for 9 forwards, $15M for 6 defense and $6.6M for 2 goalies and $1.2M in retained salary for a total of $76.8M for 17 players. They are obviously going to add Pietrangelo for $9M which will put them to $85.8M and 4.3M over the cap. They'll trade away Johnsson and send Marincin and Rosen back to the AHL which brings them to cap with $500k to spare.

They then just let Mikeyev, Dermott, Guthier, Malgin, Spezza, Clifford, Baririe, Ceci all walk (RFA+UFA).

Boom, Cap compliant team of:

8 Forwards
5 Defense
2 Goalies

There's just going to be some double and triple shifting for every game. No big deal.

Just for fun I was experimenting with the Leafs Salary Cap on cap central awhile back. I wanted to see if the Leafs could keep Nylander and sign Pietrangelo.

I subtracted Kapanen, Johnsson, Kerfoot and Holl. Let Barrie, Clifford and Ceci walk. Promoted Robertson, Sandin and Liljegren. Added Lehtonen. Re-signed Spezza for league minimum.

Signed Joe Thornton for league minimum. Signed Pietrangelo to a hometown discount of 8 mil AAV. Gave Mikheyev and Dermott modest raises. Engvall, Gauthier and Korshkov were on the team.

And I still couldn't get the Leafs under $81.5 mil. Lowest I got was 83.5 mil. Maybe Dubas can do it, who knows?
