I love the name, logo and colours....

The "S" has a tentacle in it, and the bright red eye is cool. I hope the road jerseys will be Ice Blue and not white.

The anchor has the Space Needle in it.

As for plain and boring, they have left the door wide open in terms of special jerseys and/or 3rd jerseys down the road. Plus, it leads one to wonder what the Kraken will look like?

Now they need to market a hat or headpiece for fans to wear to the games... if the fans will be called Krak-heads, might as well have Krakens on their heads... kinda like the Cheeseheads in Green Bay.

The Giant Pacific Octopus is the largest octopus species in the world.. so it is specific to the area.

I think that’s a large part of it. Their list of trademarked names were mostly plain or boring. The fans latched onto kraken for how out there it was and even if the organization was undecided at the time it was the choice that at least drew excitement.

Also I’m sure after what Vegas has managed to do, it would make sense to somewhat copy the gimmicky model that draws people in.

On another note, is there any predictions as to what will happen if they ever play Detroit in a playoff series and someone throws a squid on the ice
