I think that’s the biggest ‘breaking point’ for this series: goalies. If Minny get reliable goaltending, their system will be tough for the young guys to beat. If Markstrom stands on his head as he did most of the year, Canucks will be in tough to lose.
One thing about the young guys: even though they’ve benefited most from the rest, they’re also all high skill players who take a bit longer to find their groove. The meat and potatoes guys can dump and chase all day. The start of the year is never pretty hockey, so that might favour Minny a bit. - NewYorkNuck
i get what you're saying about creativity taking longer to regain vs grinder hockey. i have a feeling that the top end youngsters (QH, EP, BB) will get it back quickly, but this could be a mixture of homerism plus optimism. so who knows?

Yeah these are the keys to the series. Why going hard in the exhibition game will be beneficial.
Marky hasn’t played a game since Feb. 22 that ain’t so good. - bloatedmosquito
The one positive I can see with him is he was skating and taking shots for 2-3 weeks before he got to Vancouver. I would guess there were NHL players shooting on him back home so I hope that helps.

What’s the odds that we see Demko this series? Does this team live or die with Marky?

Lives and dies with Marky. He’s been off what, 5.5 months? Other goalies have been off 3.5 months? Not sure how big a difference that makes at that point — they’re all rusty.

True, but isn’t “being off” and “recovering from injury” two different things?

Covid concerns. Way too many out of towners and out of province people here for construction project and the world class fishing. - Reubenkincade
lol I love that about you Reuby...no one local is responsible but hey the 'out of towners' and 'out of Province' people are all to blame...you crack me up man

Under normal circumstances, I’d say yes. But since the guys who were off couldn’t do anything at all — and Markstrom was able to get to the facility to rehab and then skate in Sweden — I would have to say no.

You mocking him? Biggest job in Canada if you don’t know. Naive to think the risk hasn’t increased exponentially & yes out of towners I wouldn’t trust at all. When I get up there to work I’ll be healthy but just as concerned.

Many factors are to blame in rising COVID numbers. To single out a 'certain group' is every bit as naive no?

We had no cases in Penticton until the tourists started rolling in, now we have several. Seems like simple cause and effect, no?
Edit: I’m not disagreeing with the town opening up, businesses need to make bank and we’re a tourist town, but I know a lot of locals, including myself, that are making a point of avoiding the crowds.

Every active Covid case in the Atlantic provinces is related to people working out of province or migrant workers. Then again, there aren't many of them and most provinces haven't had a new case in over a week. That's why it's important to quarantine when you get here.

People are the factor & the influx of how many have arrived in Kitimat with so many more to come is a serious concern. I’m with Reuby & wouldn’t trust any of us who come to his town for work on a mega project. We have very minimal contact with the general public here at home & will remain that way for months to come til this pandemic has been eradicated.
Yes ‘a certain group’ is a major concern as common sense would tell anyone.
