that's all fine and well, but two different things.
cannot have people die from an infectious disease just because some other people are tired of living.
(i'm empathetic to the 2nd group - but should not mix both of these issues imo)

That sentence shows that you have absolutely zero knowledge on mental health and how mental health problems can develop.

It isn't about feeling sympathy either but thanks for trying.

covid dont give a (frank)...im sure covid wants schools to open.

anyways, again it comes back to the lack of leadership and direction from the Top in the US. They just needed to follow the playbook of other countries that had a head start. Lock down, get it under control and start to creep back to some normalcy.

the economy wont get back to normal until most of the population feels safe.
half ass'ing it like they have is way worse

- senstroll

This.

Paul Krugman has been all over this: it's a false choice between growing the economy and lowering COVID infection rates.

That rich, successful people would suspend disbelieve to the point of putting their lives in danger is astounding.

I'm interested too see how President Zoolander tries to spin this. There are already some Republican Reps or Rep candidates VERY SUSPICIOUS that Democrats don't die but this fine Republican did.

it's quite false and vile to assume and project that somehow a mortal victim of an infectious disease is responsible himself for his own death.

in addition, it is a good indication of your ignorance on this subject.

(seems you get joy out of this guy dying, just because he was a trump ally??)

Something to ponder -

CDC re school closures, particularly high schools: "We're seeing, sadly, far greater suicides now than we are deaths from COVID. We're seeing far greater deaths from drug overdose that are above excess, that we had as background, than we are seeing deaths from COVID."

- dozerD10

If it's true then isn't it a good thing that in most of the world we quickly turned the numbers back around and were able to get to Phase2 (and 3) to allow teenage kids to re-enter their social networks.

School isn't the only way for kids to find their social balance and fight anxiety and depression.

My own experience with my kids - the first 8'ish weeks were tough ...really tough on them. By June the weather had turned and they were able to begin expanding their socializing with family and friends and things got MUCH better.

School's important but I think CDC's tagline is little misleading.

Where do you find any joy in what I said you ignorant (frank). He went to a rally unmasked in a state with high transmissions thereby putting himself in danger. You question that?

He ignored the advice of experts in taking precautions to minimize the risk of infection.

While I take no comfort in his death, you can't 100% absolve him. He knew the risks and chose to ignore them.

Seat belts. Life jackets. Quitting smoking. Not drinking and driving. Wearing a helmet.

Add masks and social distancing to that list.

Should be an announcement to day by the province on school strategy.

I'm assuming each board will have a bit of flexibility.

I think its pretty ignorant to not care about a death...even if the person was a compete douche, the person still had a family and friends that probably are much better human beings.

Ha, I apologize. I accept that my comments were both false and vile. I am an ignoramus. I shall go and feel shame.

Sidenote - did you check behind the dryer and/or in that lint collector?

This. 100% this.

Attending voluntary political functions is not an essential activity. He was in a high-risk group due to his age and medical history. He should have stayed the phuck home and gave a speech via Zoom or Skype. He'd probably still be alive.

Coliacivio (I have no idea how to spell his name) on the radio said a little while ago that a guy like Spezza has had 4 months off and just needs to push hard for 2 months to win a cup. I think that'll energize him and hopefully he can instill just how good of a chance this is for the team.

I would take Spezza over some of our bottom-six. He's getting long in the tooth, but still has some gas in the tank. He's a much better bargain than somebody like Gourde.

Holl only gets paid 1 million this season due to the signing bonus he received.

You trade him and AJ and that is 2 million in savings and 4 million in savings for the next 3 years.

Teams like Florida, CBJ and Arizona will be some good dance partners.

And we're living in a country that has provided for those affected by the pandemic. That hasn't been the case in the States and that is what has been driving suicides. If you're serious about reducing suicides don't open up schools in a way that extends the crisis and keeps people out of work and that drives more people into homelessness.

Unfortunately, the CDC tagline is deliberately misleading.

In think rest generally helps skilled teams. I think "play-off" hockey difference in some ways reflects the fact that skilled guys are worn down and its easier to just generally slow them down. I also think it takes a bit longer to get defensive schemes worked out at the start of a season. We'll see if that applies here.

As I posted earlier, the Hospital for Sick Children wants kids back in school (with caveats, of course):
