The fact that you went out of your way to state that it wasn't political tells me that it was. Why say it's not political at all if it wasn't.

Seriously man just move on to something else today. You took your shot and you missed terribly.

- mickel25

No, that's pretty pathetic logic from an "old dude".

I very clearly said it was not political because I wanted to separate the issue of politics from the issue of intellectual competence. I very clearly said that I object to Palin in particular not because of Snider's policies or her affiliation, it was because she is dumb at a time when you need the valuation of intellect more than ever.

So right, I definitely missed on that with you.

Good for you on wearing masks everywhere.

"the modern Republican party that has increasingly lost its intellectual compass and not just panders, but actually cultivates, true dimwits.

By almost two to one, modern Republicans believe that higher education (college and beyond) is bad for the country."

Yeah, not about politics at all. You know what you did, and why you did it.

Maybe his post was like Field of Dreams. Field of Dreams is not a baseball movie but it literally references baseball in every scene of the movie.

Hi Bill maybe this has been discussed already but after the 3 games for seeding say we go 2-1 who does it look like our first round matchup would be or is there 2-3 different teams we would possibly play?

Need to see who wins the other rounds. Right now if we stayed in 4th place we would play the Pens if they won there series.

And I think I read all teams basically are starting new for the round robin portion? I don't see how that's fair to Boston, but whatever. I'm not complaining.

Your post was like saying, "no offense" before saying something offensive. You said it wasn't about "politics" when pretty clearly it was.

Why even post it at all? What was the motivation?

I thought you wanted to move on?

You asked me a honest question. I will give you an honest answer and then I urge you to follow your own advice, even if you are not satisfied. All further prolongations will be ignored.

I am a registered independent. I have voted for Republicans and Dems throughout my life. I am old enough to remember the loony left of the 60s and 70s.

Currently, there is a strong belief in this country that data, experts, objective facts, science and so on is not that important in governance.

And that strong belief is correlated with one particular party. Sure it is present in both but it has a much larger foothold in one party. I have already posted one opinion poll conducted by a very reputed pollster. I can post others.

I believe this belief is dangerous for the country, and the current spectacular devastation is a perfect example. I believe Snider had a soft feeling for such beliefs, partly because he was from a different time, but I still believe he should have known better.

The conversation had turned to his personal qualities. I brought it up, because it was a personal quality and because I have taken a very deliberate decision to objectively call out this trait.

To say this is about politics is like saying protesting rape is about being anti-male. Most rapists are men, and that's a fact. But its not about being anti-male in all that maleness implies, its about being anti something particular, something specific, that happens currently to be associated with men.

Now, we really both need to move on. I have had my say and I am happy I did.

Its based on regular season standings.

Afaik, Round robin results ranks teams, regular season record breaks ties, then of the survivng teams, best ranked team (from round-robin) plays lowest regular season play-in team, and so on. So, if we get seeded #1, for instance, we play Montreal, if they advance.

Pretty sure the play-in games will be 3v3 and shootout.

I'm still wondering what happens if the first game of the day in the first or second round goes to 3OT one day.

- jmatchett383

I believe the later games are delayed. They actually already have issued a statement saying something to the effect that game start times are approximate.

I truly appreciate the honest answer. For the record I responded negatively because I loathe politics. Especially when the discussion intertwines with sports. Sports is an escape for me and many others. I also really respect Ed Snider. So your post was a double whammy.

You should also rethink the use of the term bimbo. I don't particularly care for Sarah Palin either. But calling her a bimbo should be beneath an educated person. You should also not conclude things about people based on what they post. It makes you seem like a bigot.

Officially moving on.

I’d like to know myself. The team has all the motivation in the world to win but should it be against the rules to put him on the roster (or taxi squad) if he’s truly incapable of play right now.

Since moving to the stats, one river away from Canada. This country has shown me its aggressively racist (depending on who you are), people love guns and the elder next to you aggressively wants to talk politics. Politics in my opinion is a dumb conversation because it’s an active split between two sides that will never change and is regular joe’s can do nothing about change whether we talk about or not. We can’t do anything so why talk like we know so much about it?

I honestly don't think most of this is accurate. You might want to move. I did grow up in Philly, so I guess maybe it's a little different than a lot of places. But most people I know aren't racist at all, let alone aggressively racist. Most of my friends don't own guns, or love them for that matter. I also don't know many people who love to talk politics. But I also don't participate if I do overhear a political conversation. I feel like most people don't know what they're talking about anyway, and just spewing nonsense they read in some biased article or on tv.

edit: when I said move, I meant from where you are now, not like "get out of my country!!!!" because I don't come across many aggressively racist people where I am.
