Unfortunately i live in vancouver and have to put up with the hockey unwashed. At least they finally named a canadian kid for a captain. That’s been what...over 20 years in the making?!
Grew up in manitoba...as a kid...bobby clarke was my hero!
Now my hero is chuck fletcher! - bruceflyers
I believe Lulongo is from Quebec, which last time I checked, was still part of Canada. |

he really has progressed over his time here. i don't mean to make it seem that he hasn't gotten better and produced more every year.
i guess i'm stuck in the draft position mentality and i should move on from that.
but... on the other hand, the team is at the point where they have to decide on "what he is." is the team happy with a 2nd/3rd line tweener with issues or are they willing to roll the dice to help out a more pressing concern (defence. ) - RealityChecker
imo his off ice/attitude issues are amplified by his lack of all around value on the ice. tweeners and bottom 6 players with long careers carve a niche for themselves and make themselves indisposable in other areas. jake is no pp, pk, or even shootout specialist... just good at giving others an adequate breather |

he's like my golf game; i'm frustrated most of the time but sporadically i'll hit a good shot which makes me think i'm getting better. |

yet he was on pace for his best statistical season despite all that limitation to his icetime. It's almost as if he has improved from last year. as did his value. 20 goals scorers that are his age and have potential, also have value. The only question is whether or not to keep him. His all around value is just fine. I think he will play his way into the lineup soon enough, injury or needing to shake things up will happen. As Green mentioned: Having depth is a good thing, we're going to need it. |

You have to have someone to replace his production, if they think Mac will do that, then trade him. Until someone actually proves they can do it though, you keep him. |

Goalies can’t be captains.
You had to find out the hard way what i already knew when i started to play organized hockey at 5 years old.
THAT was one of the stupidest hockey moves i’ve ever seen. That and trading for keith ballard and david booth at the 2011 trade deadline...absolutely cost you the cup. That was over 10 million of cap space that you could have spent on actual GOOD players to take you over the top.
Thank god you didn’t. |

If you love canadian hockey...then you’d love the flyers. They always build around the canadian kids. And fun fact...they are the last team in NHL history to win the Cup with an ALL CANADIAN team. |

Actually the first european captain to win the cup was 2008’s nick lidstrom. |

i say you keep him until you find an offer attractive enough to pull the trigger.
i understand your point of not wanting to try to plug one hole at the expense of creating another.
the counterpoint would be that this organization for several years has let players diminish in value to the point they end up having to stay for virtue of "he's not worth much anyway." |

my ciritque was a little harsh... hes developed into an nhler but obviously his role is tough to define and thats why i think his overall value is not as good as his statline.
his shooting percentage jumped ~3% on basically the same number of shots from the year before and 4% over his previous career average. credit it to him he managed to produce a similar amount of shots in less ice time and produce some assists but as the depth improves i dont see him getting the little bit of pp time he was getting (and producing goals on 30% of his pp shots) |

yes and chara ( ) followed. russians have had the worst rep so when ovi won it seemed like we could retire the entire concept that certain nationalities couldnt be captains |

I would never have as my team captain any player with all their front teeth.
That means they’re not trying hard enough...not sacrificing enough.
G fits the bill. I can win some Cups with him. |

Booth was here in 2012 champ. Was not with us for the 2011 PO run. And if you think Ballard was the reason we lost that tells us all we need to know about your Hockey Knowledge... |

Ya and we love teams that take 20 years to find a decent goalie too which you finally have in Hart. How admirable!! |
