OR Hagel. Its okay. I like the chance to get another young player in there. Nothing against Caggs. I like him but he won't be here next season. - Elbows15
Hoping for Hagel. Nurse played 25 minutes last game. Having Highmore, Hagel, and Kubalik constantly hounding Nurse, I can see a few pizzas being delivered.

The Flyers are REALLY good. That young blue line is very impressive. Where’s my man bruce?
Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak line has looked horrendous today. Never seen those guys look so inept. |

Whoever it is that replaces Drake u can bet ur $ on Kane playing well over 20 mins and taking plenty of shifts with Cat and Dach. Double shifting our ultimate weapon. The Oilers can’t handle our forward firepower on those top 3 lines. Expect lots and lots of more scoring chances for the Hawks. |

Wonder if Tippett is going to employ his nuclear weapon. Playing McDavid and Dreisital together. |

He already tried that for basically 40 minutes of Game 1. Yes both guys ended up with some garbage time stats on the PP, but really, can you say either was really effective 5 on 5 for that entire Game 1? Hawks defenders did their job just fine, so if Tippett want's to load up, good luck with his crappy 2nd/3rd line matchups against the Hawks more balanced lines. |

Maybe come round 3 or later. He should be fine for another 9-10 consecutive starts. |

If the consecutive starts are not on consecutive days, then Crawford should fare better. But his overall health and conditioning after his covid19 experience COULD (emphasis added) mean he has greater difficulty with stamina or whatever.
If anyone thinks the coaching staff is not aware of this, you are dead wrong. The question then becomes, how good is Crawford at somewhat less than 100%. Better than a cold Subban going into the hot seat? |

Oh I kno, I was just being a whiny little female genitalia. 4 game winning streak we’re unstoppable, we’re freakishly talented at all positions and TA has probably permanently lost his leadoff role cuz that’s how insanely good Robert is. Eloy needs to move up to the 4 spot. When TA returns he and Madrigal should hit 8 and 9 respectively to create what would essentially be another leadoff/2 hole that can get on base for Robert when the lineup gets back to the top of the order.
Robert
Moncada
Abreu
Eloy
Grandal
Encarnacion/McCaan/Vaughn
Mazara
Anderson
Madrigal
That’s us when fully healthy. Only teams in all of baseball that can match that are Yankees/Astros/Dodgers/Twins...and maybe the Braves.
But yes the real key is the improved starting pitching and the very solid bullpen. If the pitching stays this way we can legitimately contend as early as this season(if it doesn’t get canceled).
Now just wait for the next 2 game losing streak I’ll be right back on that ledge ready to jump with outlandish takes and relentless female doging. Stay tuned for more. - SimpleJack

With the DH, the emphasis on the long ball, the de-emphasis of bunting and scratching for hits and running - is this as important as it was 10 / 20 / 50 years ago?
Lots of teams see the lead off man” as a good order-turning RBI position these days. |

The Bruins make the playoffs even if they loose this qualifying round. That is the good news for them
The Flyers are an up and coming team. Their blue line is ripening and there is a deep set of above average forwards What more is there.......just a top young goaltender to thwart even top favorite teams in Pittsburgh and Boston.
The bad news (for Boston and everyone else) then is that the Flyers could beat anyone. They would have confidence if they swuare off with Boston again. I think Hayes was an overly expensive addition but he might be one reason why they are tough to beat. I don't want to be too rosy with their chance for success but they sure look like a formidable obstacle to overcome |

He will be in an RBI position at leadoff because of TA and Madrigal getting on base at the bottom of the lineup. That was my point.
And look across the league at the elite teams and their leadoff hitters: Betts, Springer, Acuna, etc....Robert fits that mold. It’s the new hybrid way of constructing lineups. |

I like this new rule of xtra innings each team lead off hitter basically is standing on 2nd base. |

Yeah, I remember. But I just looked at capfriendly, my guy's not even an option. I kinda want to see what Entwistle has in the tank. Maybe if he scores we can hear The Who. - I Am The Breadman

You should have to earn your runs in extra innings. Just giving them to teams for free is gonna unfairly decide too many games. |

Really? Baseball game already takes for (frank)ing ever. You still have to get the runner in so this will favor teams that can manufacture a run, what a concept |

To answer both you and Sage. How many of those guys have the potential to hit 35HR and drive in 130+ runs? He is a classic number 3 hitter. The kind of guy who can put your team out front with a crooked number in the 1st inning. |
