Thoughts on Matthews calling Simmons "unethical"? Coming from a guy who put his pants down to moon a security guard? |

I would say mooning would fall under juvenile or immature. They aren't comparable. |

One is a teen/early 20's guy...the other a near senior citizen who is supposed to be professional. Not a good look on Matthews but that doesn't somehow make Simmons anything less than a joke |

I didn't see the game I was camping was it one sided with Price holding the fort? - M. Arachide
this was especially the case in the 1st 10 minutes of the game, Price basically weathered the storm by himself. the pens scored once on 7 powerplays, so the PK did a very good job too

Good point, but since when is the media "professional" ? Their job is to get clicks/reads no matter the cost (evidently). |

Everybody makes their own choices. Everybody has their own morals. Everybody has their own ethics. Simmons on multiple occasions has chosen poorly. Matthews in this and a few others has chosen poorly. Simmons is an old man and likely impossible to redeem. Matthews is young and can correct his path if he chooses to. All said, Simmons' professional career can be summed up with:

Ok, the thing is; you started your paragraph with "Everybody makes their own choices. Everybody has their own morals. Everybody has their own ethics". You then go on to say that Simmons has chosen poorly...based on whose ethics? According to his own, he did not choose poorly. According to yours, yes. |

journalism comes with a certain set of ethical standards (or it's supposed to, at least). Simmons was fully aware that the information he shared was supposed to remain confidential, and imo lost credibility by still sharing it

The NHL's rule on not-disclaiming injuries ect is very stupid anyway it just leads to speculation I don't understand it.

agreed. while journalists still need to respect this non-disclosure agreement, the league should be more transparent about the status of players |

Sigh. I agree, Pat. It should come with a certain set of ethical standards. However, if we're being realistic, this standard is probably not followed by a large portion of the media. As a person in our society, he did chose poorly. As a journalist, his thinking probably was "Oh man, hottake! Better be the first to put this out.". He probably didn't think it was that big a deal since other players admitted having covid. As a regular person, it wasn't his call to make, obviously. As a journalist, his priorities were elsewhere.
