I'll need to see Moose gone before I believe it. He is Barry's playoff warrior.
Can you imagine both Bellows and Wahlstrom on the 3rd line with Pageau next year? Barry's head might explode having 2 young forwards. - ses111
Pageau needs to be moved up the roster. He's their #1 FO / center already (IMO). |

Bailey isn't even close to having the worst contract on the Isles.
I hope Martin is gone, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lou signs him again. - JimmyP
You would really think Ross gets his spot next year but anything is possible with Lou and Barry. |

Lou does some odd things, but if he re-signs Matt, I'll have to shoot him.

Pageau is probably best as a 3C but it would be interesting to see him get extended time as a 2C. It's nice to have Pageau if Nelson spaces out and needs to be dropped down. |

Ross should have been in this year with Matt filing in here and there. I think Barry hung on too long looking for that 4th line magic from last year. We may see flashes of it in the PO's, but I think it's mostly over.

You have to respect the way that 4th line plays but it takes it's toll and they usually have very little left during playoff time after going so hard all year. Hockey is moving away from this type of line and locking up 4th line players like this long term was dumb. Martin's time is really coming up. Let him work for the team. He is not going to get better or heathier as a player. |

The isles lines are frustratingly screwed. One example is Lee playing with one guy who holds the puck for long skates. Lee takes a beating, and too rarely gets to clean up the trash in front of the net. He needs guys who dump it on net.

Beau can keep up with Barzal. Lee really needs to be with Nelson. |

I don't know if checking lines are going away, but Clutter and Cizikas won't last much longer in that role.

Agreed. There's 2 skaters I see keeping up with Barzals moves. Beau and Pags. It won't happen, but I think that would be an exciting line.
Nelson would hit Lees tape all day long. |

It's not checking lines it's the style that line plays. They cannot stay healthy playing that style all year. I love Casey as a player but he cannot stay on the ice. It would be dumb to re-sign him at this point. Teams still have solid checking lines who do not try to knock the other team through the boards all year. |

Casey has solid shooting and skating skill. I wonder how he got hooked on hitting. He isn't all that big. they list him at 210, but I have doubts about that.
Nice talking GTG.

that's his cap hit with the Isles because it was averaged over his contract. Once he's traded, the cap hit becomes $6.75 per. - Puckin_Island
His cap hit of 5.5 stays with him through the life of the contract.
Stick to mangling forward lines |

He can take more faceoffs, he doesn't have to move up in the lineup to do that. Back in the day, Eddie Westfall took all defensive zone draws in the playoffs, then came off when the Isles cleared the zone.

Let me rephrase...I would like to see more skill around a player we gave up 2 picks for.

I agree.
Basically you want your 1C to take offensive zone FO’s. Your 3C basically your shutdown C to take defensive zone FO’s. I 100% agree with you.
Puckin as much as he tells himself he knows hockey, when he spews that Barzal should be a wing tells you he wouldn’t know a puck if it hit him in the head.
Mental illness is something we need to address on line so be nice. |
