Truth be told if he signed w us this team would have that one two punch that makes us a real threat. It’s unfortunate, I’m over it mostly, but still revel in their losses. Just makes me laugh.

100% Streaks JT would have made our offense much better. That said as you said makes it easy to laugh at the Laffs even more.

I don’t know ses. He always worked w us. I think he would have bought into trotz system, he’s a players coach, and jt was always a fiery islander. That’s why I believe it’s unfortunate. Shoulda, woulda, coulda. You play the cards your dealt, and I think he played the wrong hand. Still love when they lose. Almost more than the rangers.

Only problem I had with JT was saying he would stay before the deadline, then changing his mind. Isles could have gotten a bunch for him at the deadline.

JT never bought into playing defense or being a leader. He just cared about offense and that's it. I will say JT said the right things and stayed out of trouble. He is not working hard at all like a lot of the forwards on that Leafs team. They did not like Babcock wanted them to play defense and a tougher game and they got rid of him. If the Leafs are out early again, the fans will turn on him quick though. JT got his money and he is back home so all is good.

Basically you want your 1C to take offensive zone FO’s. Your 3C basically your shutdown C to take defensive zone FO’s. I 100% agree with you.
Puckin as much as he tells himself he knows hockey, when he spews that Barzal should be a wing tells you he wouldn’t know a puck if it hit him in the head.

He played for Gordon, Cappy and weight, none defensive minded. Crappy and weight mostly offense first. I think trotz would have been a perfect fit for him. Just my opinion. Look what he’s done w Barzal. Again, too bad we’ll never know. Leafs are in a tough spot. I think the stat is close to 80% the team that wins first game in best of five wins series.

JT could have gotten them fired like the Leafs players did with Babcock. You think Ledecky and Malkin would have pushed back if JT wanted better coaches? They let JT go all the way to FA without being signed. I'm sorry I'm enjoying this so much because we kept hearing JT had nothing to work with on the Isles and Babcock was a Cup winning coach and the Leafs have all that talent and still nothing.

Matthews should show this toughness on the ice.
